And if he actually becomes good again, then you're stuck letting him walk next year for nothing or investing big money in a guy you know is a ticking time bomb. The fact that Chicago got any value for him is a win.
This is what we call "hustling backwards".

Anything the Knicks do at this point is hustling backwards until Melo waives his trade clause anyways. I suppose from that perspective this move probably doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Our liability at PG is way bigger than anything Robin gives us at C. Also, now we're more flexible to make runs at guys in the future, and we've got another pick. I would definitely not rather have Lopez and Brandon Jennings than be in the situation we are now if for no other reason than it allows us to make moves quicker if we realize we need to. Robin Lopez was never going to be the guy that pushed us over the top, now we have an opportunity perhaps to get that guy. I don't hate Robin, but it didn't benefit us to keep him and sign a mediocre PG as much as it does trading him.

                Knicks waive Tony Wroten.

Dude was on Twitter seriously talking like him, Prozingis and Melo was a Big 3. I couldn't take it. I don't even think his deal was guaranteed.

They may bring him back for the summer league but he was really feeling himself.

I guess I'm just surprised that a decent starting center on a relatively decent contract couldn't net you a positive asset. Seems like poor asset management even if the Knicks aren't going anywhere anyways.

No non-Knick fan should be rooting for them to be good.

They're the enemy, the east coast LA. We should be hoping they do bad every year, dammit lol

That's assuming they're done. It's also assuming that their contracts match head to head.

They acquired a talent upgrade who has an expiring contract plus a draft pick.

You can't be talking about production on the court.

Not that metrics are the end-all-be-all, but Calderon had a higher BPM and VORP than Rose and a far higher WS/48 this past season lol.

I don't know what those words mean but I watched Calderon this year and he's terrible. If D-Rose is worse, I'll have to see it to believe it.

Richard Jefferson confirms he is returning to Cleveland for one more season.

Cavs repeat confirmed. Where's that dude that gave me **** for calling him a solid player for the Cavs?
