re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Is that a serious question? Of course. Ingram and Simmons are no guaranteed stars. They're not LeBron, or Anthony Davis, or Tim Duncan. Boogie meanwhile is arguably the top center in the league and an incredible offensive talent, while also being possibly his team's best interior defender. He's also what, like 25? He's a legitimate top 10 player in the league and still has so much room to improve.
I'm not even a Boogie fan, to be honest, but he seems to be underrated nowadays due to his franchise's incompetence.

Imagine if he played for a coach who could get the best out of him. If only Sacramento had Mike Malone... he'd be a great fit😧😧Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

2016 Offseason Thread
Celtics basically control the fate of picks 3-6 now. If someone really wants a player badly, they have to do business with us.
I'm a little surprised by the reaction of most Celtics fans. Seems to be a lot of anger out there over landing the #3 overall pick.Comment

I am one of those fans admittedly. And I'm only mad because we now have to give up more if we are going to trade it. But I can see the side where people are happy because for once we didn't fall in the draft. And the picks we had the best chance at were 5 and 4 respectively.Comment

Rockets Coaching News
9:11 PM ET
Marc SteinCalvin Watkins
Veteran NBA coach Mike D'Antoni has landed a second interview with Houston and is an increasingly serious candidate for the Rockets' coaching vacancy, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that D'Antoni, currently serving as associate head coach with the Philadelphia 76ers, was summoned for a second sit-down with the club -- this time face-to-face with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander -- after impressing in his first interview.
The Rockets, sources say, would seek to hire a coach with strong defensive credentials, to essentially serve as D'Antoni's defensive coordinator, if talks progress to a serious stage and D'Antoni eventually emerges as Houston's choice to replace Kevin McHale and interim successor J.B. Bickerstaff.
Sources say Jeff Van Gundy has received strong support from Rockets general manager Daryl Morey to make a return to Houston for a second stint as the team's coach, but also maintain that Alexander has yet to be fully sold on a reunion with the ESPN analyst, who has been working in television since the sides parted ways in May 2007.
The offensive-minded D'Antoni has been a head coach with Denver, Phoenix, New York and the Los Angeles Lakers and, according to sources, has Houston intrigued despite Morey's calls after the season for significant improvement defensively.
Since its first-round elimination earlier this month, Houston has interviewed D'Antoni, former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt, former Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek, Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Sam Cassell, Charlotte Hornets assistant Stephen Silas, current Rockets assistant coach Chris Finch and TNT analyst Kenny Smith.
It emerged Monday that Smith has already been informed that he is no longer being considered for the position, with sources saying that the Rockets are currently focused on candidates with previous head coaching experience.
The Houston Chronicle reported in Tuesday's editions that former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina -- who has considerable head-coaching experience abroad -- remain "part of the process" as the Rockets inch closer to making a hire. Vogel interviewed with the Rockets in the 2011 offseason while still the Pacers' interim coach for the job that went to McHale.
ESPN.com reported Monday that the Memphis Grizzlies have registered strong interest in Vogel, who has also interviewed with New York for the Knicks' coaching vacancy and is widely considered a serious candidate for the Orlando Magic's freshly opened coaching job.
Alexander remains close to many players from the team's highly successful Clutch City era, which delivered two championships, leading to the interviews for both Cassell and TNT's Smith.
The Rockets fired McHale just 11 games into what was the first season of a new three-year deal. Houston ultimately lost to Golden State in five games in the first round of the playoffs, having slipped well off the standard it set in 2014-15, when the club won 56 games and reached the Western Conference finals.
After his own meeting with team officials, Bickerstaff withdrew from consideration early in the search despite posting a 37-34 record upon succeeding McHale and helping Houston rally into a playoff spot despite its seasonlong defensive struggles.#RespectTheCultureComment

Still early in the process, but I don't see them trading the pick. Not so sure there will be much of a market for it.
If I had to guess today as to what they will do, I'd say draft Dragan Bender at three.Comment

It's probable that Simmons is going to be the guy for the Lakers at 2. Maybe Luke can work some magic, but Simmons and Randle are not a great match.
I'd be trying to work some contingency trades behind the scenes to move Randle and the 32nd to move back up into the mid first round to look for a 3 and D Small Forward.
If Ingram is there things are so much easier, take him, slot him at the 3, and get ready for free agency.Jordan Mychal Lemos

That's why people are mad. Because they don't want to wait for a rebuild. If we got 1 or 2, we could trade it for a player like Butler, Cousins, George. I don't know much about Bender to be honest. But one guy I wanna see us take is Brice Johnson from UNC. I think he could be a great role player like Tristan Thompson is for the Cavs.Comment

Frank Vogel and Adrian Griffin both met with the Magic about their vacant Head Coaching job, per Woj.
Always been intrigued with Griffin. Heard/Read a lot of good things about him.#RespectTheCultureComment

Well, still early in the process so maybe the hopes of landing a type you mentioned still in play. Celtics have a lot to offer in terms of draft picks. Will have to wait and see what guys are available, and what the Celtics are willing to give up for them.
It's all speculation at this point.Comment
