re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I know you can focus on 3s and layups within a P&R offense but with the personnel the rockets have that style doesn't really work much. We don't have good finishers or good 3 point shooters. I should've explained that in my rant a little bit more lol. The players for the type of offense they run aren't there.
I think Dwight is gone though honestly. He had this "thank you Houston" post on social media so he might already have moved on.
Otherwise, I disagree to an extent. The real problem is your alpha dog is ball dominant and probably makes it hard to run any cohesive offense. You've got decent spot shooting wings and definitely have bigs that would work great in a PnR offense. Even Harden would be great bc he'd get tons of fouls attacking in a PnR, and would also get plenty of good looks from 3 if on the wing when someone else is running the PnR.
They're not the Warriors but who is? What offense do you think they could run effectively (keeping in mind, it's gotta be something Harden buys into or allows him to go HAM whenever he wants)?Comment

Someone said on ESPN that he didn't like either of the starting guards, particularly Oladipo.
So the trades which brought in Brandon Jennings and Ilyasova were busts, even though Skiles supposedly pushed for them.
He wanted more veteran players supposedly.Comment

I saw he was more so not a fan of Payton as the PG of the future while management did and continue to back Elfrid as their PG and he was also upset that the Magic didn't pick up the option on his contract

Not only that, Oladipo credited him with helping make him better.Comment

Wasn't too much of a fan on the way he handled the rotations.
Didn't he put Oladipo in the doghouse for a brief time?
Anyway, I think Hornacek and Vogel are great candidates to consider.Comment

Dwight's gone because that's what Dwight does... Dwight gonna Dwight.

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I've been saying that on here for a year, but he's definitely in the mid to lower tier of NBA point guards.
He's been rapidly declining ever since the last Spurs championship season. They probably won't salary dump him, so the next best thing is to draft a young, athletic point guard to be mentored by him.
That clearly means that Mills will need to be traded which I'm more than okay with. He hasn't been the same since '14 (pre shoulder injury/surgery), and he isn't nearly as useful without Manu around to do most of the playmaking.
Spurs need to:
Drop: Patty Mills, Matt Bonner, Boris Diaw, David West, Andre Miller and Kevin Martin
Retain: LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, Danny Green, Johnathan Simmons, Kyle Anderson (please, no more playing SF), Boban Marjanovic (maybe)
Draft: 1st Round. Whoever is best available between a 6'6" combo guard, an athletic, speedy and slashing PG or a rangy 6'7" - 6'9" athletic SF
2nd Round. Trade up using next season's 1st and draft A.J. Hammons
Bring - In: Start off by bringing over Davis Bertans or Nikola Milutinov and signing either Ian Mahinmi, Ed Davis or Miles Plumlee.
