Problem with Moreys moneyball analytics theory is, its not successful or proven to work

Taking the post man out of the game or making him a garbage man is awful

Putting talent and chemistry on the lower priority than stats and numbers is failing him big time.

Taking more 3s arent guranteeing them wins nor are they leading the league in ppg or %

He said he didn't believe 3s were more efficient than long 2s. That's objectively false.

Every Daryl Morey failure isn't an indictment of all of analytics just like Byron Scott's failure isn't an indictment of every old school principle. There's room for nuance.

What nuances do you see in Houston?

My point wasn't even the argument youre making.

          I was answering Packs question..

However Morey took that formula he's doing it wrong.

Well volume 3-point shooting is working for the Cavs and to a lesser extent, it worked for the Warriors.

Thing that kills me is when players take jump shots just inside the 3 point line or while straddling it. Low percentage shot without the reward of the bonus point.

Completely wrong. I hope we clean house out here in Houston because we need to. I'll never understand how morey is such a stats geek but couldn't see that Corey brewer, josh smith and Trevor ariza were borderline useless. Add the fact that brewer is making 8 million makes it even crazier. You get James harden and Dwight Howard and you don't make the pick and roll a priority but instead make layups, 3s, and free throws the main goal when your second best player can't do 2 of those 3 things. I just wish I was born before 95 so at least I could've been alive to see the rockets win a title. For now I'm stuck with a very flawed team on both sides of the ball.

Man that was a semi emotional rant lol.

Not sure if anyone touched in this but as Jason Kidd announced that Giannis would be the team's starting PG next season. What do the Bucks do with MCW?

I don't really understand this.. Who just randomly announces which player is going to start next season lol. Unless he's doing this to try and motivate MCW, or Let teams know they can make offers for him, it doesn't make any sense.

I think it was more that Giannis was the point guard by the end of the season and kidd said he's going to continue taking on that role.

You guys think Dave Joerger becoming the Kings new head coach puts an end to a possible Boogie Cousns trade during the offseason?

Not until Ownership and Management proves itself to be competent, which it has yet to do since they fired Mike Malone.

Joerger will sign three-year deal -- with a team option for 4th -- paying him $4M per year. Contract coming, possible news conference today.

I think someone else summed it up (23?) by just saying "he's doing it wrong"

You can DEFINITELY focus on 3's and layups from within a P&R offense... it's actually probably the best offense to use, and even moreso with the way that team is built (Dwight being the 2nd best player specifically).

Free throws I can kind of give you, but you can't NOT want to be on the high end there, even if you have a Dwight on your team. Teams that don't hit FTs don't win championships... just gotta find a way to work around a guy like Dwight in that regard.

Jason Kidd said that Giannis would be the starting PG next season after starting as PG for a few games at the end of the season.

24 or any other Hornets Fans, how much of a priority do you think Lin will be for you guys? Do you guys have his bird rights or can he basically can the same offer from other teams?

I know folks over at NetsDaily are crazy about him and would like him as a PG since he has connections to Kenny Atkinson since Lin has credited him for being the player he is today.
