2017 Offseason Thread
Y'all were gifted 2 Top 3 picks from us and usually guys taken that high are franchise cornerstone-esq players, who in turn become difference makers and eventually become good enough to win a championship. And with Lebron possibly heading out East, then that should mean you guys slide into their spot as perennial Finals representative out of the East, right?
Serious questions btw.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I'd rather talk about teams actually doing something though lol.
Wake me up when the Celtics actually make a move yall.Comment

I mean this is literally an exact way it could play out. It's really not that far fetched.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I honestly think this is a case of fans of other teams wanting the Celtics to trade for George more than Celtics fans wanting then to trade for George. It's easy to say throw away extremely valuable picks for a guy who has let it be known he want to play in LA after next season.
This sub forum is literally the only place I've seen suggest including those picks is a good idea.
Yup. Anytime the Brooklyn pick, brown or Tatum is mentioned with a George trade scenario most people laugh it off. Unless it comes with an extension guaranteed. Which won't happen.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
That's a fact but for some reason I envision Indiana holding on to him, doing nothing and Pritchard attempting to spin it to save face meanwhile George walks at seasons end to LA like everyone knows he will already.
Does Houston really have the cap room though even if they did try? I'd assume they would have to ditch Ryan Anderson's contract to make that room and even then I have no idea if financially they can afford it. I'm not all over NBA contracts and cap space so maybe I'm completely off base but it sounded like they were pushing the boundaries already with the CP3 trade. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
You're preaching to the choir man. You don't have to tell me we're screwed. I've been here since day 1 saying that with all these dudes on here wondering why I'm mad lol.
All I'm saying is Pritchard won't accept that deal because it does us no good in the long run. Crowder is solid, but he's 27 and not going to get much better/doesn't fit the timeline of a going young and rebuilding team. And Smart? I mean what is that guy? He can't shoot for ****. Solid defender. Doesn't look to be developing into anything more than a good rotational player IMO.
I guess it's a bit much for me to say taking that deal isn't any different than letting PG walk, but I'd rather just take Love and flip him for something than take that Boston deal.

In the end it sucks for Indiana that George or his people let the whole LA thing get out there and then did nothing to kill it thus completely obliterating the Pacers' chance at getting any real compensation in a trade. Indiana will get something if they want it but it won't be the package they would have gotten had the LA thing not been leaked I'd believe.Comment

Some of y'all be like "idk why Ainge is hoarding assets when he could trade them for an All Star" but the moment that players leaves and one of those assets pans out being a stud y'all will be back in here "I can't believe Ainge traded the future away for one year of Paul George to win now when everyone knew that wouldn't beat GS anyways" [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I hate to have this convo again but I mean that's the end goal, is it not? To win one eventually, right?

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Yeah but GSW exists. I think what the deal did was give the C's 2 timelines. perennial contenders while having a young core. It puts them in position to maybe win one with the right moves but to expect a title is really high optimism even if you landed say a AD/KAT heck even Kyrie type with any of the draft picks.
The whole "Don't worry about now but in 2-3 years when we have a better chance" narrative that's been coming from most teams other than Houston in regards to making moves now.#RespectTheCultureComment
