FWIW, Rob Pelinka's deal with the Lakers is 5 years for $20 Mil.

He's a first time GM, BTW.

        Brewers and July 4th.

Gotta take what we can get, which hasn't been much lately for the Brew Crew.

Same with Bucks, except for the past 2 of 3 years.

How can this young man go back on his word? lol

Giannis Antetokounmpo thanks the city of Milwaukee for its support. Inspired by Kobe and Duncan, The Greek Freak hopes to spend his career with the Bucks.

Knicks got Amare because they offered more than anyone. Its that simple. No other team offered the max for the full amount of years. Then once we had Amare and a bunch of additional cap room the Knicks looked like a good situation, so Melo was interested. Since we started losing again the biggest free agent we even got a meeting with was probably Greg Monroe, and he picked the Bucks

New York Post is reporting that the Mavs have emerged as "serious contender" for Derrick Rose. Interesting.

                  2017 Offseason Thread

                  From local reports in Dallas

Despite what might be emanating out of cyberspace, don't get any ideas about Derrick Rose coming to the Mavericks.

A source said that the Mavericks are not in the market for Rose, even though they have had good success in the past with players coming off major injuries.

They already have a couple of veteran point guards to school youngsters Dennis Smith Jr. and Yogi Ferrell. J.J. Barea and Devin Harris will serve that purpose well.

Not that Derrick Rose isn't a top-shelf talent. But since the knee injury in 2012, he's been a much less impactful player, even though he averaged 18 points last season.

He also suffered a season-ending meniscus tear on April 2, leading to his fourth knee surgery in nine years playing in the NBA.

Derrick might have to retire. I honestly don't even know where he fits in the league at this point. Everybody has a point guard and those teams that don't really don't want him or simply not in the position to do anything with a veteran point guard who can't stay healthy.

KCP is there for the taking depending on how much they want to spend

The moratorium ended at noon today, so teams are officializing agreements reached the last few days. Some deals will come quickly. Others will be delayed for cap reasons.

One I sure didn’t expect to be finalized today – the Pistons’ reported three-year, $21 million contract with Langston Galloway – is apparently done.

                          Pistons release:

The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed free agent guard Langston Galloway.

The Pistons were always going to hard-cap themselves by signing Galloway with the non-taxpayer mid-level exception. The curious part is the timing.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a restricted free agent, and the Pistons are now officially hard-capped.

If Galloway’s salary this season is the smallest amount allowed with his reported contract terms, Detroit would be $20,044,288 beneath the hard cap. Caldwell-Pope’s max salary is $24,773,250.

If Caldwell-Pope signs an offer sheet that would take the Pistons over the hard cap, they must clear sufficient payroll before matching. Had they waited to sign Galloway, they could have matched then cleared salaries on a looser timeline before signing Galloway and officially hard-capping themselves.

Maybe the Pistons plan to let Caldwell-Pope walk if he gets that large of an offer. That’s a dangerous game to play with one of the team’s top assets.

Maybe already they have a deal lined up to dump salary. That would be fine.

But by signing Galloway now, the Pistons put a squeeze on themselves. We’ll see just how big of one.

Props to Porter on earning a $100m+ deal despite only averaging 9 points a game.

Money is crazy in the NBA. Remember only a couple years ago Joe Johnson was the highest paid in the league with $30m per year?
