The one writer I see banging the "LeBron to LA" drum is Bill Simmons. For as much as I've enjoyed his work in the past, he's proposed what looks like insanity on the face of it a day ago at his site, The Ringer.

“What if I told you that 12 months from now, LeBron James, Paul George, John Wall, and Boogie Cousins will all be on the Los Angeles Lakers together?” he says. “Conspiracy Bill has some things that he doesn’t like about what’s going on. I think the LeBron James–[to]-L.A. [story], he hasn’t come out and denied it. Everyone’s talking about it in the league, it became public last month. He knows they’re talking about it and hasn’t said anything. Hasn’t said, ‘This is ridiculous. I’m so tired of hearing this. I want to finish my career in Cleveland.’”

“Here’s the interesting part,” Simmons says. “So, John Wall, represented by Klutch — Rich Paul — LeBron’s buddy. LeBron, it’s pretty clear he either owns Klutch or funded it or has a stake in it. You could have John Wall and LeBron. Paul George is going to the Lakers anyway. I mean, that’s not even a secret anymore. It’s just like, they might as well start selling his jersey. And I always thought John Wall and Boogie are a team.”
It’s true that Cousins isn’t represented by Klutch or Rich Paul, but he has been friends with John Wall since their Kentucky days.




“I feel like 2018, I think that summer they’re like, ‘We’re a package deal,’” Simmons says. “So they go to L.A. If [the Lakers] can get rid of the Luol Deng contract, use first-round picks [in a deal] just to get rid of them. I don’t think they’d have to use Brandon Ingram. The market for getting rid of a contract is a first-round pick at this point. So you have Lonzo under contract and Ingram, which is about, I don’t know, $11, $12 million combined.”

That's a play not even 2K can pull off with its horrible AI management. I don't see it, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

Bill still has a little bit of ESPN left in his writing when he veers off into predictions.

I always considered him a crazy basketball fan that made it as a writer. He's always going to say some outlandish things but I never considered him 100% serious about any of it. It's all an amazing fantasy for him.

Also, the trade deadline has been moved up a week so it's now before the All Star Break.

I really believe news reporters are using Lebron's name and the Lakers name to draw attention . Half of the articles make no sense.

Of course they are thats the point.

You see how many trades they dont know about......

Stephen A: "The Spurs offered Kawhi Leonard to the Knicks for Porzingis."

Simmons: "Conspiracy Theory Bill thinks there's a chance all 4 of these studs go to LA next year due to ___________"

Simmons just likes to have fun thinking up different crazy story lines; SAS, as you mentioned, actually tries to play it off as real stuff.

Regarding the latest crazy idea from Simmons, enough people are talking about LeBron to LA at this point that I think it's at least worth considering as a real possibility. The PG to LA rumor is obvious. I could also definitely see Simmons being right about Wall/Cousins wanting to partner up. I doubt all 4 go to the same place though.

I guess it's all in the delivery. Stephen A. is like a political talk radio host, while Bill Simmons is more of a shrewd columnist. But yeah, let's not pretend like either have the edge on correctly predicting/judging situations. It's just as easy to look up Bill Simmons predictions and opinions that turned out dead wrong.

They're both garbage to me.

One is fake tough("You don't want these problems, KD) and the other is just as smarky as they come. "But he sounds like one of the guys" is what I'm always told about him though.

Platform matters, too. I've always viewed a podcast as two friends shooting the **** and this was a mailbag pod at that.

I expect more out of a national TV show. Maybe I shouldn't, but I do.
