2017 Offseason Thread
This is depressing as of now. I'm willing to wait and see how it plays out but just handing a player like this to a team in your division seems borderline silly. I'm usually a big fan of whatever Danny does too but this could look awful eventually.
Aren't Brown and Jackson redundant? And this has to mean you are keeping IT for the foreseeable future right? You cant get stuck with Bradley/smart in two years. I'm having a hard time convincing myself that the risk doesn't outweigh the reward here. Just draft the franchise PG. You got Brooklyns pick next year to get cute with. Really hope some of these picks are flipped for a star quickly. Only way this can look good.Last edited by ricky24; 06-17-2017, 08:21 PM.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Not really understanding the logic behind continually having this assets and just sitting on them and then moving them. At some point you have to cash in on them. You got that those Nets picks hoping that at least one of them would be a number 1. You now have a number 1 in what everybody keeps saying is this great, deep draft, so you're going to trade it to a team for another future draft pick? What if the Sixers get Fultz, both Simmons and Embiid stay healthy and they not only make the playoffs but do it as like a 4 or 5 seed? Then what?Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
If Ainge actually started hitting on these picks, I would believe in his methods. He stock piles & trade back & it almost ends up messing him up in the long run. He's almost in the Nuggets range when you have so many prospects & sit on them that they lose value over time. Make a move now, or stop trying be the NBA Patriots.Comment

Well he's still cashing in on an asset and getting the guy he wants in Jackson. So that part doesn't bother me. I just hope he turns whatever he gains out of this into a player that makes the team better now.
The part I question is doing this with a team that could essentially be competing with you in a couple years but that team has a good pick anyways so I guess it's not that bad. Just gotta figure Danny is getting what he wants anyways in this draft and acquiring more assets in the process. He just needs to flip the assets this time and turn them into a legit player. If he doesn't it looks kind of silly. Maine red claws will be really good for a while though.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Doing what a good general managers of a rebuilding franchise does...aquiring more future draft picks.
Seriously though I can see where Danny is coming from. If he views someone other than Fultz as the top guy, and can add a potential 2018 lottery pick to the stash, sliding down two spots makes sense. Have to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope this gamble proves correct in the end.
Ainge is sounding more like Daryl Morey than someone building an up and coming team.
Is he pulling an EA, and continually feeding you guys multiple 3 year plans and before you know it a decade will have passed?Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I wouldn't be surprised if Danny really is in love with Jackson. And wanted to trade down so he could save the 3 million and change he is going to get by drafting at 3 instead of 1 to sign Heyward this offseason and not have to unload one of the half top 6 guys (Bradley, Crowder, Smarr) to do it. Now we are only something like just over 600K away from having a full max slot available.
