Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Nets still have $30 Mil in cap space too. I wouldn't mind throwing an offer sheet at Nerlens Noel if we don't go big with our 1st rd pick.
I also want to see Russell's *** playing in Summer League this year too. Throw him, LeVert, Rondae, Whitehead, Goodwin and our 1st rd pick this year and let em run wild.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
David Aldridge says that the Lakers tried to trade Sacramento their second pick for the fifth and 10th so they could try to send one of those picks along with the 27th and 28th picks and a player to Indy for Paul George.

Roy Hibbert. Not at the level of Dwight but was certainly a franchise piece at one point. Dude was an All Star/All NBA defense team and was traded for a damn 2nd rounder just a year and a half later.

20.8 PER, 100 Defensive rating. Still a great rebounder. 2 years left on his contract. 31/32 years old.
He just needs to sink a couple of thousand more to Hakeem and unlock Level #5 of the Dream-shake.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Lol.. yeah there's probably a ton of guys you could name really.
Anyway hearing that report from Aldridge about the LA/SAC trade, it shows Pritchard isn't settling for anything other than 2nd pick or Ingram. I'd be shocked if we get either, but I like that he's not giving in to trash anyway. Though it's likely he'll have to give in at some point and if that's the case I say ship PG somewhere else for their trash just to tell PG/Magic to **** off for a year. That'd be satisfying.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I'm not saying he's bad but he kinda has to be efficient and a really good scorer because he really doesn't do anything else well. He's one of the worst defenders in the league according to defense RPM. It's kinda like the Wiggins thing tbh. (ala omg PPG!)
I know he's young but as of right now.
to me Porzingis is far and away better. and He still has to get better also but I don't think it's quite close.
It's still fairly difficult to know how good/bad of a defender he will be at 20 years old playing on a bottom 3 defensive team. He's quick enough and big enough that he doesn't look like a liability on the court but nearly every stat will say otherwise in that situation. You throw him on a team like Utah with some help behind him and I don't think it's nearly as glaring as it seems.
For the record, Porzingis isn't really a good defender either. He's long and due to that he can block some shots, but he gets beat on the hedge, doesn't really protect the rim for a guy who's 7'3, and can't really hold his position inside. Though still the length alone is a bonus over Booker. It doesn't help that he doesn't get defensive rebounds either, only about 2 more per game than Booker was getting during his breakout months last season. So I guess my question would be, what else does KP do well that makes him any different from your Booker statement?
Honestly, I could care a less about his ppg. He's on a bad team and gets lots of opportunities to score, so his ppg really doesn't say much. I like the fact that he can handle the ball, make plays, showing to be versatile enough to run either guard spot, he can get in the lane, hit the 3, play off the ball or with the ball. He's developing all the offensive tools that guys like Roy and Harden had early in their careers. Which makes me believe that he has a much higher ceiling than I originally imagined. Not many guys have this type of game at 20 unless they are the uber athletes, he doesn't fall into that mold which makes me believe he's already a highly skilled player than should continue to grow and get better with more repetitions.
His sophomore year was definitely a little disappointing, which is kinda comical since nearly all of his metrics improved. Agreed that he didn't wow you as much as you'd expect.
Part of it has that KP is being so grossly misused right now. He's chasing undersized 4's around the perimeter which is limiting both his help defense and rebounding numbers. He was also dealing with a team so bad at defensive rotations, everything was a mess on that end of the floor.
On the other end he's dealing with two black holes in Rose and Melo and was asked to create his own shot from 15-18' out far too often last year. Isoing a skinny 7'3 kid against a 6'9 defender from that far out is idiotic but hey, triangle4lyfe.
Just get this kid a point guard this year and pick-and-roll/pop other teams to death. We should be able to get KP so many easy looks instead he's often asked to create his own offense and forces up ugly stuff.
I don't disagree with any of that at all, just don't think Booker's situation is much better either.
I just need to see that consistent stretch from KP that makes me believe that he's going to reach all that potential. Right now he just shows flashes every once in awhile, and we've saw that far too often from these European bigs. Hell even Bargnani could put up 20 a game, block a couple shots, and not rebound. So I need to see what makes me believe he will be a Dirk rather than a Bargnani.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Clippers are going to pick a bad time to fallback into irrelevancy depending on what happens in these next 2 years
As if Tuesday couldn’t get crazy enough, with both Brook Lopez and Dwight Howard reportedly getting traded, the market for big men this offseason could get even more crowded.
According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Haynes, the Los Angeles Clippers have had exploratory talks with other teams as a means to gauge interest in center DeAndre Jordan.
Jordan, 28, has one more year left on his contract as well as a player option for 2018-19.
Via ESPN:
Sources say the Clippers, in an exploratory fashion, have spoken to a few teams regarding the nine-year veteran.
One of the teams contacted was the Phoenix Suns, sources relayed to ESPN. A proposal of Jordan in exchange for veteran center Tyson Chandler and the team’s No. 4 pick in the 2017 NBA draft was discussed, sources said.
The Suns, however, are believed to have balked at the overture.
Should power forward Blake Griffin bolt during free agency next month, rival executives believe the Jordan relocation pursuit would only intensify.
It seems like moving Jordan would be a signal that either Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, or both would not be returning to L.A. this offseason.
