I guess there's no way to prove it, but it seems extremely likely to me that if all things were equal in NY or LA, he would be huge.
Sorry for replying back so late...

It's not about any individual winning 50 games. It's about a team winning enough to be bumped up the list for national coverage, both for actual games and talk in the media circles. Teams like the Warriors and Clippers may as well have not been in the league (as far as national coverage goes) for years.

Heard that he had a lot of interests outside of baseball.
He's stated that he planned on getting into broadcasting a while ago. Don't know if I can find a quote, it was back when he was happily with the Raptors.

For sure. I think there's basically 2 points to be made and we're both right to an extent. Because winning would normally give that extra exposure, but unless they go 82-0 the Jazz will not have the national TV looks that we and the Lakers get.

I don't know about that. You could have said the same thing about Cleveland not being a big enough market for national games before Lebron got there.

Get a big enough superstar in it, one who's selling shoes, selling a lot of jerseys, getting other media opportunities like movie roles and I think the networks will start paying attention.

Trying to remember if Utah got some games back when Stockton and Malone were in their prime. For that matter, did the Spurs during the heyday of Parker, Duncan and Robinson?

I think though that there may have been other glamor teams during those times though, the Lakers, the Bulls peak eras probably overlapped with the time when Utah and San Antonio had some of their best seasons.

I can't really imagine the Lonzo Ball thing is true.

Even if the Lakers weren't sold on him as a franchise player they wouldn't publicly let it be known right NOW. If it were true I would think they would do the opposite, talk him up so he has trade value. Then they could land a star for that pick, or trade down a couple spots and land another decent piece to go with that. They wouldn't (I wouldn't think at least) let it be known that the guy isn't as good as they thought. Doesn't make sense.

I definitely would've said the same thing about Cleveland and I would say the chances of landing a LeBron are about even with going 82-0, as in small enough that I don't think my statement is affected by it. My point I guess will be proven soon enough, the Jazz won 50+ games last year. We'll see if they get more national games than us.

                It's called "smokescreen", OJ.

Happens every year so do not be surprised.

Lebron is a 1 in a million player though. He's not a good example of going against the point.

The Stockton/Malone Jazz and "Dynasty" Spurs both got less national/media coverage than the success those teams deserved so that does support his point.

Well there will always be hyped prospects, one way or another.

Lebron was having his high school games shown on national TV before he entered the NBA.

He certainly has lived up to the hype but people throughout the basketball world was convinced he was going to be the real deal. He signed a huge shoe contract before he arrived, maybe even before the formal draft.

Funny thing about the NBA draft, the best players often go to teams which make the best strategic sense for the league.

So you have statistical oddities like certain teams getting high picks at the right time -- Knicks getting Ewing, Spurs getting Duncan, Magic getting the #1 after having just gotten Shaq, Cavs getting the #1 picks when Lebron was the consensus choice, then 3 times before he returned, Lakers getting the #2 for 3 years in a row, etc.

                    So much for randomness.

I'm not buying into the conspiracy theory... it's just a fun talking point.

That aside, we're not just talking about hyped prospects. There really was never another Lebron. He came in the league with zero experience above HS and was still considered on his way to the HOF before the 1st tip off. There are quite a few that don't fit this comparison and they all compare to Lebron. He is literally on an island in terms of this discussion. We can talk about Shaq or Ewing as no brainer #1 picks but that was even after 3 and 4 years of college respectively... but even they were legit no brainers. These are the exceptions to the rule, not the norm.

I bet we'll get some leaked information that the Celtics love Ball even though they didn't get to work him out.

I 100% disagree. Literally everything in Boston is coming up Fultz, yea you hear the other names (Fox, Ball, Tatum, Jackson) but it's only one guy saying it and it's just there is some interest.
Also for whatever reason the Celtics organization allowed ESPN to follow Fultz around during his workout and visit yesterday. It seems to me that it's either Fultz or trade the pick.

Bucks GM Search News per Woj:

The Milwaukee Bucks have narrowed their search for a new general manager to three candidates, league sources told The Vertical.

Denver Nuggets assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas, Atlanta Hawks ex-GM and current ownership adviser Wes Wilcox and Milwaukee assistant GM Justin Zanik have emerged after a round of interviews in New York this week, league sources said.

Karnisovas and Wilcox will travel to Milwaukee later this week for further meetings with Bucks officials, league sources said.
