It seems like the writer is contradicting himself there, and making a bit of a stretch to incriminate Carmelo.

Furthermore, regarding the Olympic bronze medal comment.. The Olympics are a joke to USA basketball lately... Look who we sent, look who didn't go. Look at the reasons they didn't go. Carmelo is just stating what most of the NBA and fans already know, so I don't think they will come down on him too hard for that.

This is actually why people are starting not to care about the NBA. When somebody who is supposed to be a sophmore in college isn't honored to be at an olympic event nevermind getting out of college for free there isn't a problem?

ok, so now because he's young, he's supposed to be the one player to actually give 2 sh!ts about the olympics? if you think there's something wrong with him not caring about the olympics, then there has to be something wrong with every other nba player not caring also.

sure, i'd like it if the players cared and actually wanted to go and bring home the gold. but they don't, and i'm not about to single out carmelo for criticism when his attitude is no different from the majority of the league's.

if people really want people who care to go to the olympics, they should send NBDL players or college players, or a bunch of NBA 12th men. The NBA stars just don't care.

What's up with all of this "internet hate" on athletes lately. Just because they get paid high salaries do not make them targets. Get over it people.

Seems like some folks just hate the fact that Athletes esp. NBA players aren't bowing down thanking everyone .. and how greatful they are to be only shooting and dribbling and making loads of money for playing a game.

He's in his second year in the league, took his team to the playoffs last year in his rookie year, and won a national title in his freshmen year of college. People call him a crybaby although I have never seen him cry about anything. And if you call him a crybaby because he complains to the refs, WHO THE HELL DOESN'T COMPLAIN TO THE REFS?!?!? Obviously this hatred towards Carmelo is coming from a group of people who didn't like him to begin with. If someone doesn't like someone else, any little thing that person does that's seems negative will be blown out of proportion; and the person will get all overdramatic about how terrible that person is. From my perspective, Carmelo is having some hard times right now and instead of talking down on him, maybe people should actually try and support him. I believe that things happen in life as learning experiences and the problems Melo is having are not different from any other first year, second year, or even vetaran player in the league. These recent struggles will only make Melo a stronger person and basketball player. People need to stop hating on these people and try to put themselves in the same situation and see how they would react.

I just find it funny how quickly NBA players get spoiled by not even getting a thrill just from being at an olympic event. These people obviously have 0 nationalism and are suggesting they don't even care what soilders are going through overseas by not representing their country with dignity and tossing out a symbol of a U.S. accomplishment into a stream of water. The NBA is just going to keep sinking if it's run by these selfish thugs who have no pride in how they present themselves.
