Add no defense to that and that is why the Bucks won't get anything in a S & T.

    Edit: Woj bomb:

Free agent forward Jabari Parker has agreed to a two-year, $40M deal with the Chicago Bulls, league sources tell ESPN. Milwaukee rescinded Parker's qualifying offer moments ago, making him unrestricted.

Good luck to JP, but glad the Bucks didn't spend the 40 million.

    Per Woj:

Bucks GM Jon Horst tells ESPN that Bucks weren't going to match offer sheet, and worked in good faith with Parker and his agent Mark Bartelstein to let them negotiate the unrestricted deal with Bulls. There was no harm for Bucks to make the gesture.

I’m now okay with this deal.

Second year is a team option which allows them to negotiate a long-term deal if he stays healthy. So it’s essentially a 1 year deal for 20 mill of cap space they basically weren’t going to do anything else with after signing LaVine.

Yeah I think that was crucial. Obviously Jabari is scary with those ACLs but that's an extremely team friendly contract where he can go out and prove that he's worth more and possibly sign a long term extension. If he isn't then just don't pick up the team option. Win for both sides really.

That’s awesome news, truly. Somebody like Channing seems to be a great vet to have around a young group.

Yep, team option in year 2 makes all the difference. Did they overpay by a few mil, sure, but maybe doing so will get other free agents to give them a look in future years when they might not have done so otherwise.

The Cavs are gonna be a playoff team next season, not just because the East sucks but they have good players. Love, Sexton, Nance Jr., Korver, Hood (if they get him back), Osman, Zizic Frye and Hill is a decent squad who I think complement each other well.

I think they will be in the conversation but I dont know about being a playoff team.

They will contend like Detroit sort of contended last year. Hover around 8 but ultimately will fall short.

IMO, Sexton has to play at a ROTY level for the Cavs to have a chance to make the playoffs.

The Cavs can definitely make the playoffs as a low seed, the EC is ****ing terrible

                                Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

Cavs success will be in large part dependent on Hood and Clarkson as well. Both are good young players who are naturally still getting better. Maybe the pressure of not having to perform in the playoffs helps them settle back in to where they were when they were first traded. Hood especially considering the dude was literally watching highlights of himself just to remind him that he could play.

Biggest issue with this team, and it’s been an issue for the last 4 years now, is they have a lack of playmaking ability. Clarkson and Hood don’t fill that, G Hill really isn’t even a true playmaker either, maybe that’s one area Sexton can really succeed at. I’ve heard both Griff and Lue tough on how last season if LeBron couldn’t create good looks they just flat out weren’t going to get them. They were very limited in that manner. Love and Cedi can both make the right passes, but it’s not a team-wide skill set at this point, and they are usually not the ones who initially have the ball in their hands.

Also Cavs will have to find something to get them points. Utilizing sets that get Love touches and work inside to outside would be ideal, but there are really two issues with that. 1.) how effective is that in today’s league? Most teams will likely just let him have his one on one and play the percentage game of not giving up any open 3’s. And 2.) Love lost all that weight and really isn’t an effective post scorer anymore. He has his moments, but far too inconsistent. And it’s really when he gets matchups like CJ Miles on him that he does well. He struggles against traditional post men.

I hope T Lue cane finally get out and run that high tempo game he wants to run this year. Sexton, Clarkson, Hood, Nance, he has a lot of guys who could eventually do well in that style. Plus Thompson will be a superstar now that Bron is gone 🤷🏻*♂️[emoji23].
