Outside of some end of game situations, since that’s pretty much where the change will be noticeable, how does it mean more entertainment?

We should just call them what their real name is and not translate it then!.

          2) Simplification of clear-path foul rule

          3) Expanding definition of “hostile act” for purposes of triggering replay.

Changes need two-thirds approval from teams to pass. Woj is reporting that the board of governors will likely pass those three measures.

I’m fine with the second two, but that first one is trash. Why should the offense be punished for the defense being unable to grab a rebound?

IMO, the shot clock change is stupid. But I could see it passing.

Shot clock change is only going to affect teams trying to drain the clock later in games. Tragic for them, I guess? No team is going to use those extra 10 seconds at any other point for any other purpose, unless they don't know how to run an offense.

All I see when teams grab an offensive rebound is dribbling for ten seconds before starting a play.

This change will get the movement and action going faster. I'm for it.

I am more interested in the other changes because the language is blah and I expect it will be even more confusing once they pass.

If there's a rule change I want, it's to cut out number of timeouts late in game, and forbid teams from calling a timeout if down by a certain number of possessions with under a minute to go. Frustrating watching game where a team is down 10 with 30 seconds to go, and coach just calls a timeout.

Yes, potentially more entertainment in the most entertaining part of the game. Not much change otherwise, so I don't see this change as a negative thing at all.

Last offseason they changed the number of timeouts that a team can take in the final two minutes from three to two. There's really not much they can do otherwise. With that said, I don't see a ton of timeouts taken down 10 with 30 seconds left.

Faster action doesn’t necessarily mean good/better. If anything it can mean more sloppy action or even more JR Smith things happening.

The shot clock reset to 14 seconds worked well in the Summer League. I'm all for that change.

Yup. The new shot clock rule worked just fine in Summer League. Teams will adjust and the majority of fans opposed to the change soon will as well.

Yeah not saying it's better. But I'm definitely on Camp Do Something and if 14 seconds gets these guys to start the possession faster so I'm watching more amazing happen then I'm good with it.

It was dumb for it to reset to 24 in the first place since teams don't have to deal with the other side of the court on offensive rebounds. Actually it should probably reset to 16 seconds but I guess it's better to keep it the same as after defensive fouls with less than 14 seconds left. Either way this change makes sense to me.

I barely watched Summer League so I didn’t pay much attention to it. What was different? Guys getting better shots/looks or was just about increasing pace?

The change of the shot clock rule will most impact end of games. Teams can't just burn 48 seconds anymore. I'm definitely in favor of it, it works well in FIBA, I wouldn't mind them implementing more FIBA rules
