There is also talk that Rose/Marshall could be dealt to Miami for a package including Eddie Jones/Malik Allen/etc

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...fla-sports-heat
Well I still think a deal for J-mags will go down...

But for a miami trade I hope we could get dorell wright.Shaq thinks he'll be a star.

What is the opinion of Nets fans on that deal. It looks pretty solid.

      Andre
      VC
      RJ
      Nene
      Collins

That lineup is a winner in the East.

      Kidd
      Unknown SG
      Carmelo
      KMart
      Camby

That lineup is still good, plus it might get Kenyon to produce getting him back with Jason.

I think that I like that deal for both teams, although I would give Jason/RJ/Vince some time before I just blow them up.

Alot of talk in NY is saying that the VC deal was done to keep Kidd here. And that Kidd was very happy of the move. If though, they do decide to make this move I will throw up all over myself. I'm open to trading Kidd, but this is the last trade in the world I would want.

Re: Vince Carter To The Nets?

There will be no deal for the Raps with New Orleans. The Hornets will not give up MaGloire and anybody else for Mourning and Marshall. If Zo doesn't play for the Raps he sure won't play with the Hornets and Marshall is a free agent and won't resign with the Hornets. If you're New Orleans would you give up MaGloire for those two? Don't think so. I'm sure Babcock offered VC for MaGloire but were turned down. This deal guarantees you won't see MaGloire in a Raps uniform anytime soon unfortunately.

I'm giving Babcock the benefit of the doubt and think he has a deal cooked up with Miami for Rose, Marshall and Zo or some combinaton thereof. The Heat are the only team that would take Zo right now. It's the only reason I can think of that the Raps would take Mourning in this deal.

As for Carter it's his defense that hurts a team as much as his indifferent play. When you combine that with a broken down body and his aversion to any type of contact the Nets get an albatross they're stuck with for the next 3 years that will be untradeable. It isn't a coincidence that the Raps have sucked the last 3 years with VC as thier go to guy. The last time the Raps made the playoffs 3 years ago they won at a 90% rate in the last month to sneak in and almost beat the Pistons in the 1st round. Where was Vince? He was on the injured list for that last month and not even on the playoff roster.

Actually, I think the Nets threw in Mourning's monstrous salary to make the deal work with the salary cap. I don't think either team (Nets or Raptors) cares much for Mourning.

True, but Zo may pay off in the long run in the form of a mentoring aspect. This guy knows how to win games and play well at both ends of the floor.

Babcock said that in the paper today. He was thrown in simply to make the money work, they even waived his requirement to take a physical.

Re: Vince Carter To The Nets?

This has turned into a long thread about a bunch of role players. Seriously, Carter is no longer a star player and the guy hasn't played in like years. Maybe he pulls a Grant Hill after this trade but until then I'd say whats the big deal?

All these guy's are just average players at best. Now, if somehow Mourning ends up in Miami then he becomes more valuable playing next to Shaq. If Vince stays on the court for 35 games this year maybe the Nets get some value out of him but does it really matter after they trade Kidd?

Kidd is leaving Jersey by Febuary because he's a winner and he wants no part of that team. So, for all the talk about how VInce will step it up because of Kidd thats non-sense because Kidd would rather go to a contender than throw alley oops to Vince for 35 games.

I wouldn't say it's a trade involving a bunch of role players. I wouldn't say it's a "blockbuster" deal either. What matters is that it's big news in the NBA and that's why we are discussing it.
