    Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

I don't know because front office, coaching, teammates have kept reporting that he's doing everything right. Has it came out officially that it's not Melo who initiated the talks?

Anthony missed the Rockets' 96-89 loss at San Antonio on Saturday night because of an illness.

After the game, coach Mike D'Antoni referred all questions about Anthony to general manager Daryl Morey.

"Yeah, that's ... I'm sure you can address that with Daryl. I'm trying to win a game," D'Antoni said, adding: "You need to talk to Daryl. On that one, I have no answer for you right now."

Asked what role he sees for Anthony moving forward, D'Antoni said: "What he was doing. Melo's been great. What he's been doing is backing up the 4."
This was right before all of this game out. D'Antoni said he's been good as their back up 4, then there was a meeting to discuss his role, and now he's looking for other suitors. Could be a mutual thing.

Well before the reports about his release, he talked about reevaluating his role with the coaching staff...I'm assuming that talk didn't go as planned.

I think he sees how poorly everyone else has been to start the year, thought he could help with a bigger role, they aren't having it so he wants to go somewhere he can get that role. That would be my best guess.

He gets all the blame, but they didn't go from the top rated offense in the league to 24th or whatever they are at because they swapped Ariza/Luc with Melo/Ennis. Harden has shot poorly, CP3 has shot poorly, Eric Gordon has went from an All-Star looking player to awful, they've all missed games, that's a big chunk of their offense. I mean Gordon is shooting 32% from the field, 23% from 3 and taking 9 threes a game.. He's worse than Antoine Walker or Josh Smith with that type of production.

I'm sure they want to gain some sort of defensive boost by playing Clark some minutes at the back up 4, I'm sure Melo thinks that if that's the case he should eat into Ennis, Green's minutes at the 3 and they likely don't want to do that. For all his flaws he is still a much better player than they are, and the system as a whole is probably frustrating to him.

They were questioning on NBA radio if there wasn't a linkage to Melo and Jeff Bzdelik. He coached the Nuggets when they drafted Melo and was fired, he left the team and they added Melo now all the sudden he doesn't want to be retired anymore and upon bringing him back they are getting rid of Melo...

Yeah i heard the Bzdelick connection

Im gonna go ahead an say Morey screwed up big time from the beginning until now, it's all on him whether its mismanagement, bad roster moves and anything in between other than injuries.

I just don't see how Carmelo is the reason for this, bench or starting.

I think it was announced about a week ago, but in that time span he's played a game or two, missed two games and on his way out.

I believe D'Antoni has said there is no connection though. People still going to speculate.

                If you're talking Bzdelick......Dont know

He retired... then they called him back up asking him to unretire. He agreed...

Then a later report came out after their negotiations that he would only consult for a couple of weeks and not return until the end of November

Chris Paul was asked if Carmelo Anthony would be part of getting the Rockets on the right track: "Man, Melo’s a future Hall of Famer, know what I mean? That’s me saying that and knowing that. Like I said, we’ll see what happens."

Yeah Chris Paul sidestepped that question hard.

                          He also said this:

"Melo's been great here," Paul said. "That's like a brother to me, know what I mean? I don't know what's being said or whatnot, but Melo's been great, working hard every day. So we'll see what happens."

I mean nobody never questioned his work effort, lol. Just seemed like a random thing for him to say.

We all know that he works hard but for whatever reason it hasn’t translated well to the court.

Yeah looks like they just didnt want him back but not clear what it was to me at least.

If theyre just using him as the reason for the rocky start then like i said... better start looking at that GM

I dont think Melo ever got past the not starting thing tbh. I'm not sure he will regardless of where he ends up....
