Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
The New Orleans Pelicans' front office wouldn't allow Anthony Davis to return from injury versus the Indiana Pacers on Monday night despite the star forward being medically cleared to play, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.Davis reportedly wanted to suit up after missing seven games with a finger sprain before team executives denied his efforts. The six-time All-Star recently asked to be traded, and reportedly gave New Orleans a list of four teams he'd sign with long term. He's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2019-20 campaign. If Davis isn't dealt before the Feb. 7 deadline, the Pelicans could allow him to return and finish the season with the team. However, the front office could also choose to shut Davis down for the remainder of this season and avoid risking an injury that could damage his trade value. For his part, Davis has said he intends to play for the Pelicans as long as he remains on the roster, but that the team has "every right" to hold him out.The Los Angeles Lakers - one of Davis' preferred destinations - have reportedly been aggressive in trade talks, but it's not yet clear if their offers will convince New Orleans to part with the big man before the deadline. The Pelicans are reportedly hesitant to make a deal this week, as some within the organization don't want to trade Davis until the summer, when the Boston Celtics can join the bidding with their young core and with extra picks in the upcoming drafts.

Edit: Found it.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
4 assets, that's it. Either 3 players and 1 first or 2 players and 2 firsts. If he goes somewhere else in the summer, so be it. As a Lakers fan I would have no problem if things go down that way. This 4 firsts and seconds and more is nonsense.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
They absolutely win the trade. Not even just winning in the long term I think their team is better if they aren’t in a position to start Payton/Frazier, or Hill/Moore anymore as well. Any rumors with Ball/Ingram/Kuz/Zubac likely nets the 4 new starters, 3 at the least. And the Lakers absolutely shouldn’t do it.

BI, Kuz, Lonzo are all nice. However, they are expendable pieces. To make it seem like these type of players can’t be found in free agency, draft and contract buyouts is crazy hyperbole. The depletion can be replaced.
Now, can you find AD in the draft, free angency or contract buyout? Your chances are slim to none.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
I'm surprised that NO wants to hang onto Jrue, especially if they're looking for a lot of draft picks. If they wanted young players already in the NBA, I would get keeping him and resigning Mirotic.Comment

**** the Pels man
This whole thing is dumb. And the reason it's dumb is because NO is the team that HAS to do something now. Not the Lakers. Davis told NO that he isn't coming back. They are in the ones put in a bad position.
We don't NEED to do a got damn thing in this situation and will be just fine if we don't.Comment

Sure...
The Pels are dumb and the ones that NEED to do something now.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
I don't think anyone is saying that though, I think they are just saying the Lakers don't have to do anything right now either. I mean I thought trying to push for a trade before the deadline was the right move for them, but not for 19 players and 12 picks lolComment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Pels just have to be smart man, life goes on as a small market team after this is over. The players and the league are watching.
Manage the the Davis situation as well as you can, which I feel is already off to a rocky start with what I feel was an over emotional public response to the trade request. Not playing him is an understandable strategic move, but also risky with no end game in sight. requests happen, the coach says hes been a pro about it.
Dont end up with egg on your face trying to "stick it to the Lakers"...and this is coming from a card carrying Laker *****.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
NO doesn’t have to do nothing so let’s stop the lies. And if Lakers’ management is acting like some of y’all, then I don’t blame the Pelicans for holding out.
Again, if the Lakers don’t want to pay that price then pass on it and wait for another star to hit FA. After all, they’re the Lakers and guys will run to come play with Lebron, right? They get to keep their players and sign a FA without giving up anything.
Lakers aren’t winning anything this season anyway so what harm does it do to wait til the offseason?
At least that what we’ve been led to believe.#RespectTheCultureComment

If the AD trade doesn't happen do the Lakers just trade Ball to the suns at the deadline? They should be able to get one of their young wings and a 1st round pick.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense
