Magic had nothing to do with signing LeBron. Lakers could have hired me and LeBron would still have gone to LA.

      Regarding Byrie-

The Celtics locker room is quiet. Seemingly every night, according to reports.

The chemistry problems are evident on the court, particularly defensively, as the Celtics have dropped 5-of-6 out of the All-Star break. The issues may start with the guy at the top of the pecking order,*Kyrie Irving,*according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

Sources around the team told me that Irving’s persona has changed, too: He’s become disengaged and detached from those around the team. There is talk that Irving’s friendships on the team start and end with Tatum, with whom he shares an agent. Two sources peg Irving’s change in demeanor to early February, around the time he was asked about the possibility of joining the New York Knicks next season. That’s when Irving infamously said he’d make the best decision for his family and that*he didn’t “owe anybody s***.”

If so, he’s done his part on this end.

Who says the next coach will put an emphasis on developing young talent? So far, it’s looking like Magic overplayed his hand since he’s been in charge because if his name was Melvin Johnson, he’d be gone too.

Luke wont get credit for developing anyone even though he did, but I guess the Lakers hate development but are quick to call people trash.

Don't forget Randle was coming along as well

Depends on how much you believe of what O'Connor is saying....definitely more than the media...

Ainge also came out and said Steven's is the last one to blame in all this...sounds like hes talking to the players.

Stevens has some blame.... but i see where this is going.

Gonna be Ainge's excuse when he ships people out this summer.

Can't call Magic a failure yet. The plan was to complete this squad next year.

If you don't want to give Magic credit for signing LeBron, then you can't hold it against him for missing out on marquee FAs this past offseason. PG13 didn't even give him a meeting; how is that Magic's fault? Who else was there for him to sign that was worth not preserving max-space for 2019?

Maybe I'm being naive but all the guys the Lakers signed to 1 year deals were 1 year deals for a reason; they are not part of the long-term plan. Since they whiffed on PG13, they tried for LeBron + Kawhi. SA refused to deal with the Lakers; again, is that really Magic's fault? Pops has hated LAL long before Magic became president.

And y'all act like there were all these FAs they could've signed but didn't, yet I'm not seeing those guys, especially because it's all about preserving cap space for the absolutely star-studded 2019 FA class. This past summer's FA class outside of LeBron and PG13 was very meh. Why would Magic settle instead of swinging for the fences with all those potential HR hits this coming summer? KD, Kawhi, Kyrie, Jimmy, Klay, Kemba, Boogie, etc. You gotta take your chances with one of those guys.

So they ended up with a bunch of non-shooters on 1 year deals. I can see not signing Brook Lopez back as a whiff on Magic's part but at the same time, he's a liability on D and doesn't rebound the ball well. Would Brook even play against teams like GS and Hou?

Get back to me in September 2019. I expect another big name on the squad and better players that aren't just on 1 year deals. If Magic fails to do that, which is his plan, then yes you can deem him a failure. I think people's expectations just got out of wack this year (myself included) because LeBron is on the team.

IMO, once they tried to trade the entire young core for AD, it threw any notion that they are waiting for next season out the window.

I disagree. You’re not challenging for a title with just AD and LBJ no matter how great both guys are. Still need a 3rd option, role guys, and a bench for that can happen. Nothing the Lakers could have done made them a serious contender this year.

Yeah, but they're so sure AD wants to go there, why not keep the young bucks for now, and then sign him in 2 years? They trade for AD now and they wouldn't have HAD any role players, or a bench, lol.

Because in two years LeBron is that much older. And two years is an eternity in NBA years. A lot can change. You team up the two now, and wait for the others pieces to follow. The thinking is guys are gonna want to play alongside them.

I remember I started calling him Byrie when he got up during the championship parade and said something like “real talk on souls on big Bs” and Ty used to call him blood all the time. I’m sure there was another big example too. It actually became a bit of a meme with Cavs fans for a while too.

It just makes me laugh imagining that Kyrie became disillusioned with the Celtics rosters when their slogan for the playoffs last year was ‘C us rise’
