Re: "The Official TEAM Thread" (individuals are overrated)

Alright, listen, I'll try to explain clearly so we arent on two different pages.

you make a topic promoting team basketball conversation. when I see this, I'm like "Hmm, well there ARE team threads, so thats probably where the team talk is" Hence, you get my first response.

Maybe that wasnt a detailed response on what I was getting at and you thought I was being sarcastic when I actually wasnt. So I then explain what I meant in some detail....again I'm serious and I'm called unbelievable.....I dont understand where that came from.

And thats it, why you had to come at me like you did is beyond me since all I did was try to give you a reason why individuals are talked about more than the teams.

Let's not. How about we make some more Kobe and Lebron threads.

Actually, how about those Suns... Phoenix is 25-4...

Do you guys think they're a fluke? A great regular season team? Do you think they will do any damage in the playoffs against the likes of the Spurs, TWolves, or Kings?

I personally think they will end the season with a great record, run into some stiff competition the 1st round of the playoffs, and get knocked out. Also, it will be interesting to see how they do when teams slow their fast break down.

I agree with KDRE that people need to focus on the teams rather than the players. That's how it used to be back in the day. But it will never happen because what's the first thing you think about when someone says the Lakers, the Cavs, the Heat? More than likely people just associate star players as being with their teams. "How are the Lakers doing?" Becomes "How is Kobe doing?" That's why the ordinary NBA fan nowadays doesn't root for teams, rather than their favorite players.
The true fan always know his bounds, unlike the wagon-jumping hounds,
Who never feel the slightest shame for changing hats from game to game.
The players come and then they go, but one thing for certain that I know,
With purple hearts we take a stand.... for loyal is the Viking Fan.

Yep the Suns are pretty amazing so far this year. They really surprised me alot, and so did Seattle. It's amazing how the coaches get those guys to play well together, how they move around the screens and there is a man set up for a shot, if he doesnt have it there is a teammate on his side wide open.. I love that stuff.

I think the Kings are done for as far as the tile hopes go, they should rebuild. Can't see them winning the championship at this rate. The team isnt deep enough and they just seem a notch slower than last year.

Those kinds of fans most likely cant tell you a thing about playing team ball.

If you want to know why a team is struggling for instance LO look at how the coach is running the teams offense. Obviously something is wrong. When a TEAM does bad, not the individual, but the team, the coach gets fired because he can't get the TEAM to play well... just ask Bzdelik... noone is bigger than the team when you look at the reality of it.

I totally agree. I think the Suns have been very impressive thus far but it looks like they're blowing thier load in the regular season. I've heard somewhere thier coach said they plan to run and gun in the playoffs regardless of how other teams try and play them but I can see them getting schooled by the Spurs if they meet. The 1st round now being a best of seven makes it harder for a 1st or 2nd seed to get upset so I see them getting at least to the 2nd round.

The best thing for the NBA would have the Suns win the title as it would get other teams to copy thier style and get some excitement back into the NBA.

Exactly, and alot of star players haven't grasped this concept yet. They can go about business and get their numbers and their million dollar contracts but if their TEAM isn't winning it affects everyone around those star players. Ask Allen Iverson. Tim Duncan is a star player who comes to mind that understands the concept of team. I think the media should also take some the blame for selfishness in the NBA. Players with the "hype tag" are under constant pressure by the media to never have an off night and that can make those players put themselves before the team. Nobody knows this more than Kobe Bryant this season who has the task of playing in Hollywood after what has happened.
