Re: 2019 Eastern Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
It's about how they don't exactly add much to the broadcast. They're supposed to provide actual insight and analysis while being unbiased, but they just come off too often as pushing their own agendas and having big egos. I find the regular broadcasters who haven't been in the league before to be better at that than the former players.
It's not true of all former players, but I notice it alot on ESPN/ABC games. NBATV/TNT guys I find good at that job.
Also, for tonight, Embiid listed as "probable" with gastroenteritis.Comment

If you’re looking for actual analysis and “unbiased opinions” there are plenty of available options for that but the last place you’re going to find it on is TV, especially on ESPN. I’d be on your side if there weren’t any other options but they’re out there.
But saying silly stuff gets more attention/ratings than being logical and objective. That’s just the way it is.#RespectTheCultureComment

Really good vid on how Horford and the Celtics slowed down Giannis in game 1. Thought i'd share it on here...

This is what I love about the playoffs...
Time to see if the coaching is good enough to counter Bostons gameplan, and if Giannis can adjust his game to be effective....
This is what determines all the "best" talk to me, not the regular season.
As for these analysts, they're characters man....cant take them too serious...Last edited by The 24th Letter; 04-29-2019, 12:47 PM.Comment

And to think there are folks out there who still treat Al Horford as some sort of scrub.
You would think in 2019 fans would be smart enough to understand the box score does not tell the whole story. Then again, some look to the ESPN halftime crew for well informed insight and opinions, so maybe I expect too much of people.Comment

This is why I'm so glad I got rid of cable some years ago and only watch the games so I don't have to actually hear these talking points or narratives. It'd do a lot of y'all some good because y'all like to clown the Paul Pierce's etc. of the world but get butthurt when they say something that attacks you emotionally. Trust me, it'll do wonders for your mood lol.Comment

I arrive as the referee is about to throw the ball in the air and leave when the buzzer sound. No halftime either. Got tired of ESPN a long time ago.
And I consider the TNT only as a comedy show (and they are great at it!). Barkley and his stupid "no shooting" team is winning the title thing some years, Shaq is just there to ruin the chemistry because he was too afraid of going to ESPN and be compared to Chuck and Kenny is just there trying his best to provide some analysis among the chaosOSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Shaq not going to ESPN is the best thing to happen. He fits much better on TNT/Turner since everyone there doesn’t sound like a robot giving out the same takes/opinion like everyone does at ESPN.
Turner guys are at least allowed to standout whereas everyone at ESPN outside or Screaming A, all sound the same.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2019 Eastern Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Nah, it wasn't the best to have happen. With just Kenny and Chuck there was perfect balance to the show. Barkley was the great player who never won a Championship while Kenny was the role player who actually won. There was an implicit understanding. Now we have Shaq a great player who also won and we get his stupid "I won" thing where he actually thinks that's an argument when he is getting run over during a discussion.
He knew Barkley gave no ****s and would have clowned him from TNT creating a feud he couldn't have possibly won so instead he chose to be in the same studio as Chuck in a beta role. I like Shaq, but he makes that show a lesser show.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Kenny and Chuck can also handle Shaq. On ESPN, Shaq probably ends up running/dominating the show.
It's a compliment to their broadcasting career(and partly a generation thing) that many people now remember Kenny and Chuck more for TNT than their playing career.Comment

Right, he would dominate (which is what ESPN would have preferred it ended up happening) which would beget the inevitable Shaq/Barkley comparisons. And he knew he couldn't measure up (which it was smart on his part, knowing his limitations, but sadly it came at the expense of the show).OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

And in this case, it just happens to be Shaq. At the end of the day, they’re ALL saying silly and ridiculous things, which has been going on since before Shaq was there.
Kenny - Analyst, Chuck - Says whatever that’s on his mind, Shaq - laughs at everything and brings up Rings every now and then.
But the notion that he supposedly couldn’t “measure up”? Based on what? The fact that he’s loud? Lol#RespectTheCultureComment
