Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I have serious doubts Kemba to the Celtics is a lock like reports suggest. Reeks of an agent trying to force the Hornets hand.Comment

Not doing so shows Jordan failed to consider the optics of the decision. As a small market team that gives off the impression an unwillingness to take care of your homegrown all-star. Coming in $60 million less than the super max is a slap in the face to Walker.
Why would any player on that level ever want to go there now?Comment

I don't know that I buy the Lakers are getting Kawhi, but they have kinda been operating like they are under the assumption that they've been in the race this whole time, and the Jones/Perk/LeBron stuff.. Just like they were operating like they had max money when everyone said they blew it.. So I guess we'll see..
Regardless, as an armchair GM, that's the only move where I would spend all my money on one player. I would not spend it all on Kyrie, Jimmy, Kemba, and wouldn't sign DLo unless it was for less than his max as well.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
From a Kawhi standpoint though, how much sense does that make for him? If his main motive is winning and the only real monkey wrench in him just staying in Toronto is the idea of him going back "home" to play... Isn't the Lakers his best fit?
I could see him having a bit more of an old school mentality, and not wanting to play with but rather compete against LeBron.. I actually think the two of them like competing against each other. But if that's not the case, Lakers check both his boxes to a larger degree than anyone else..
Plus I actually disagree with their play overlapping and struggling as well. Imagine if D-Wade could switch 1-4 on defense and would take and make open shots and 3's rather than pump fake 75 times. lol.. Also for Kawhi, now he doesn't have to worry about being the play-maker, or forced into those pick and roll situations that still look really awkward for him. He can just be that scorer.
Still not what I see happening, just thinking out loud.Comment

Why wouldn't you spend it all on Kyrie? If healthy, having those 3 guys in the playoffs who can all take turns going ISO if needed...ain't nobody stopping that.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
And mainly, to your point, rotating ISOs between 3 players shouldn't be necessary from a great team. That's not the ideal recipe to winning at the biggest level. Could they get by with that if it's those 3, sure they would be instant contenders, but could they also build a better team with more defense, more off ball play, more shooting, more depth? Absolutely.
If it was a much lesser player than AD, sure.. But how exhausting would it be to watch Kyrie-AD pick and rolls and AD never get the ball because Kyrie needs his 4 extra dribbles? And AD is a free agent after this year.. What better way to run him out of town than by making him the sacrificing afterthought.
On top of that he's an injury risk. Along with AD, and who knows with Bron going forward as well. And to another point you've made, you sign one guy you get the Miami scenario all over again with poor depth.. with Kawhi however you have elite defense, efficient scoring, a guy who doesn't mind watching others when they have it going, and a guy who can move and shoot off ball, as well as post.. With Kyrie you have a guy who's only effective with the ball in his hand, and wants no part of giving up his touches for the sake of someone else even if it's better for the team.Comment

In what world would he be a “third wheel” besides the ESPN sensationalized headlines?Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Good for Kemba. He deserves a chance to chase a ring and play for a contender.
I don’t know what the hell the Hornets plan has been. We’re letting the best player in franchise history walk for nothing. If you weren’t going to pay him, why in the hell do you hold onto him at the deadline?

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I know everyone is saying that Kemba isn't a max player, so what did MJ do? Lowball their offer by like 60M lower than what people are saying he's due?
So Boston is gonna give this guy the max?Last edited by The 24th Letter; 06-28-2019, 07:24 AM.Comment
