"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

No I get that, what I’m saying is I don’t think they would have to delay the trade. That was the whole point of trading away Mo, Jones, Bonga, so the timing of the trade wouldn’t matter. Before that they needed the AD trade to take place on the 30th, now I don’t think it matters.

The Lakers currently have $32 salary cap space available to sign Leonard to a max deal, but as ESPN cap expert Bobby Marks explained this week, the Lakers have to complete their business with free agents before the massive Anthony Davis trade becomes official.
Whether the Lakers land Leonard, or are left to pursue the other big name free agents led on the board, they’ll be able to maximize their money prior to the Davis trade becoming official, which is expected to happen on Saturday. If the Lakers don’t sign anyone before the Davis trade goes through, they’ll lose around $5 million in cap space, and will only have ~$27 million left to work with. At that point, Leonard could still decide to play for the Lakers – but he’d have to take a significant pay cut.Comment

That doesn’t even make sense because none of these moves will be official until they actually sign anyways. Nobody has signed yet, so how does the money change. I know once the trade goes through it’s the Davis contract on the books rather than the other guys, but even with the Davis contract it looks to me like all they have to do is delay signing Daniels and Dudley. Again that was the whole point of moving those 3 contracts, or at least that’s what everyone said when they traded them.
I also can’t imagine the Lakers would drop down to 27 million while waiting when that’s still extra money they could use whether it’s in Kawhi or other guys.. kinda feels like this is the same situation we were in before where people were saying they didn’t have the money that they actually had.
Either way, I’m assuming this means they get Kawhi or retain everyone from last year and play the “over the cap game”. You also know there is a reason Marcus Morris hasn’t signed yet. I wonder if he goes regardless or if he’s only in play if Kawhi picks Toronto/Clippers. Same for Danny Green.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Which would mean even with AD, LeBron, Kuzma, Deng’s dead money, and incomplete roster charges they are around 77 mil.. which is still enough for a Kawhi max. That’s why this doesn’t make sense. The only way they drop under the max money room is factoring in Daniels and Dudley’s money, which wouldn’t matter anyways. Plus no tweet from Woj, Nate Duncan, etc.
Maybe the qualifying offers factor into that? I didn’t think so since Caruso has bird rights and Williams is a 2-way contract.
Just checked Pincus’s Twitter, he basically said everyone knows what’s going on here so if it happens on the 7th, 8th so be it. Basically if it doesn’t happen tomorrow it still happens soon and all teams are aware.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Memphis just wants all these washed up guys lol..
I like it, I doubt he stays on the roster but if he has anything left in the tank he would make a decent mentor to JJJ for developing that rim protection.

The Grizzlies are trading CJ Miles to Washington for Dwight Howard, league source tells ESPN. Deal saves Memphis $3.1M. Grizzles will waive or trade Howard, per source.Comment
