    Re: 2019 Offseason Thread

I woke up at 3 am to piss and saw the news. Then I went to bed laughing at how crazy this whole thing was. Still crazy to me.

So is there anyway that Miami can land Russ? If Butler would have it, I think that's a good spot for him. Miami appears ready to get rid of Dragic, no?

Would they move Dragic, James Johnson or Dion Waiters, 2020 first unprotected (Miami), and maybe change the conditions of the 2023 protected 1-14 pick (which OKC now owns) to an unprotected 2022 and 2024.

Too much? OKC should be swinging for the fences on the rebuild here. And Miami has to want to go all-in on this Easter Conference.

Dame hate him. Embiid hate him. Nurkic hate him. KD hate him.

If PG couldn't stand him, why did he decide to stay?

I'm not challenging the notion that he didn't like Westbrook. I'm trying to understand the dynamics of when/what happened between them.

        2019 Offseason Thread

Kinda surprised the Lakers haven’t signed another defensive minded guy.. Stanley Johnson for example, or taking the chance on Bradley bouncing back..

Also what’s the word on Oubre and Morris out there? Surely lots of teams are reaching out for the only young starting level guys left right?

And what about the Melo, Jabari, Dwight, Boogie group. Market really that dry on them?

And last, surely Korver and Vince land on some team that needs an extra shooter? Sixers, Lakers, Warriors (until Klay gets back) seem like obvious spots.

If the stories are to be believed, Kawhi changed his mind. I honestly believe it.

Last year, PG probably didn't see a good opportunity to win with either LA team. So he stuck it out with OKC because he liked the franchise and felt he could win with Russ.

A year later, two-time NBA Champion Kawhi Leonard asks you to join him and play for a home-town team. You listen.

It sounds like the whole thing was done respectfully. Good on Presti to not fight it and instead look to the future. He probably also realized that the team wasn't enough to win in the West. Might as well rebuild and wait out this new chaos of dynamic duos all over the conference.

Claimed he liked Russ and liked OKC.. so who knows man..

I think there was always a chance he went home at some point, I’m guessing the Clippers being able to make this move tipped that scale to their side.

Money..... im not sure what happened if anything. We never saw anything in particular or heard anything.

Maybe it was Billy Donovan, maybe it was management's plan for the future, who knows.

Regardless I don't want him ****ing with Beal.

Agreed. I think it would come down to Riley asking Butler if he wants to play with Russ.

I think I read the two are friends? I know that changes on the court though and both are going to want to run things.

But maybe Riley is the magician to get both to co-exist. Might as well try. That team isn't winning with just Butler.

Lakers still have 9.7-13 mil cap room depending how they re-sign/sign the players announced so far.

I have a feeling Rondo is coming back (barf) because this Lakers roster is the extreme opposite of last year's. Last year it was surround LeBron with playmakers and have no shooters. This year it's surround LeBron with shooters and have no playmakers.

Right now LeBron is the only playmaker on the team...

Rondo and AD worked well in New Orleans. Might as well.

The Clippers wanted Durant too...thats why Bev and Lou Will were talking him up after the 1st round of the playoffs.

Might've been a possibility at another time, things change.

I feel like I remember Woj saying last week before KD signed with the Nets that Kawhi tried to recruit him to the Clippers but that was when everyone was hyped up on the "Woj is on Balmer's payroll, or Kawhi wouldn't do that etc" feelings.
