I don't get why players are insistent on lunging to contest Hardens 3 point step back. If they anticipate it coming they can move their feet as he does the step back and go for a straight up contest. But most times, they don't move their feet at all and just jump towards Harden 9 times out of 10. Then they get frustrated and complain about the call. But that's a foul in my book. I don't see anything they can complain about.

Habit. Granted, they're NBA players but there's no other player in the league that is so deadly with the stepback. When they feel like they're beat, that's when they lunge. Hard habit to unlearn.

We saw this with Harden's rip through before, which was taking advantage of bad defensive habits and technique.

This is the type of stuff that makes him different.

I imagine this is one of those things where it’s easy for US to say that but on the court, it’s not that simple.

I’ve even seen guys so exactly what you say and he’s still knocked it down.

The way the Rockets play on offense is so hard to watch. No ball movement or player movement just CP and Harden pick and roll, step back 3, or fishing for fouls
