I mean he's an amazing scorer, but his style of play just isn't as effective come playoff time. A lot of Harden's game is foul baiting and it's almost like the refs start to not call things they usually would call for him in regular season. But if i'm being honest, refs definitely missed some important call's in this game.

I don't like this change of rules thing because it's the playoffs

That last one was not a foul (though might have been on a foul on CP3’s pass after the fact; didn’t get a good look at that).
The 3 or 4 uncalled ones before that were all easy foul calls though. Harden got hosed this time around.

I wonder if when he's all alone in the gym, Harden practices kicking his legs out right as he's about to land. Not to pick on Harden cause tons of guys do it. It's just crazy.
Like, you literally would need sneakers that fit on your calves if you are expecting to land on your shoes.

I'm kinda on the fence here. I don't like Harden's flopping but I also don't like GS acting like they've never fouled anyone in their life, Iggy in particular; that dude needs to be punched in the face.
But at the same time, this "playoffs basketball" where they let more things go is a dangerous game to play and the inconsistency is really annoying. Call the damn game the same all year long, don't start changing it because of the time of year. This is why people hate referees so much because they are so inconsistent and they can change how they call fouls from game to game. It's so annoying.
We know Harden flops at times but the Warriors are just freely allowed to "Zaza" the Rockets with no consequences so I understand Houston's frustration.Comment

Fam. They make it hard to root for them. I just can't

Rough game to watch but was definitely fun. Hope we can steal home court in Game 2.Comment

Re: 2019 Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Sounds like the officiating crew told Mike D'Antoni they missed some calls they shouldn't have. That's fair.
Broadly speaking, as a dude who's played and coached a lot of basketball for a lot of years, I'm wondering about this landing zone debate. It's one thing for a defender to be whistled for a foul after landing directly under a shooter's feet. I get that.
But I think the thing I struggle with is how much space a shooter should be entitled to. If an offensive player has developed a shot that forces their body to crescent in mid-air (kicking in a pendulum motion toward the hoop), they could theoretically put themselves in a situation where they can almost never be heavily contested.
I'm looking back at the clips now and I see a few calls that were missed. But I also see some where, as I think back to my own close-out defense, I'm wondering exactly what else a defender would be able to do other than stand four feet away and watch a guy fire off clean looks all night. Most shooters jump forward to a degree, but the kicks and wild forward motions have gotten weird and twisted things up pretty nicely.Comment

Freaking trash offense
I'm glad the refs are leaving him dry on this mess

Re: 2019 Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
I’m usually one of the loudest here, if not the loudest, when it comes to being put off by all of the gimmicky **** Harden has to rely on to be a good player.. but I have to say, this time I’m on his side a bit.
He’s gotten these calls all season long, 6 months of him doing this. This isn’t one of those well it’s the playoffs now so we are calling less ticky-tack stuff, these is flat out changing the way you are enforcing a rule in the middle of a season. I don’t think that’s fair for any player, regardless of what the rule is. You want to adjust it (which I would actually agree with BTW) do it in the off-season when you are actually suppose to change rules.
I understand they have to decide how much he comes forward or kicks his legs, and there were a few where he absolutely did and he always does.. but I counted 3, 4, 5 times that I thought the defender clearly stepped into his landing space without an exaggerated forward movement from Harden. I think most I caught Klay was the defender. That’s 10+ points leaving of the board, more than enough to strongly influence a game like this one.. not a fan of that.

Of course Coach Golden State Nick would post that one clip. As much as I cant stand Harden/Houstons offense they have some legit beef on some of those close outs. Refs obviously made it a point of emphasis to look for it and in the process held their whistle when they should not have in some cases.Comment

Harden doesn't really shoot set shots like this though
