NumberOne, why do you keep mentioning the fact that he is black, has tats and cornrows. It's irrelevant, and you wanna make it sound like hoards of people are pulling the "thug" card when infact, you're the only one (to my knowledge, and definately in this post) who has mentioned it.

At least stick to your earlier statement of saying that Iverson somewhat hurts the Sixers chances of winning. And I didn't jump all over your opinions, the only thing I jumped on was the fact that you made Iverson sound like he was a chip off the ol' block. And to the Ozzile guy, yeah Iverson has 4 TO per game, but so does Wade, Kobe, and Steve Francis. And I believe Iverson has a higher assist total than all of those guys, and those guys are considered team players as well, so that argument should be done with. No one is above criticism, but thats alot of criticism your giving him don't you think P2K? Although, if it does make you feel better, I will list his shortcomings: He's short, he's too skinny, he weighs to less, he has tattoos, he wears cornrows, he's black, he hasn't won a championship, he's not a very good shooter, he doesn't stay healthy enough, he's got a bad attitude, he's a ball hog. There, you win, you can have your argument.

All you Iverson fans are acting like I am putting all the blame on Iverson. That is not what I said. I said he is PARTLY the blame. And that is because even though he is the point guard, he is not playing the best team ball he could play. That's way different than putting alot or all of the blame on him. Alot or most of the blame goes to the management over the years screwing up the cap and filling the roster up with mediocre players. Larry Brown ruined the cap of this team. Billy King isn't helping that much, but he did do a good job with the past two drafts(drafting guys that Brown never would've drafted) and adding a couple others that can actually put down a jumpshot. Billy probably wanted to trade Iverson, but he knows, just like everyone else knows, there are not too many suitors for him. And if there are, he would not get fair value back in return. That is the main reason why this team has been where it has since after the Finals. And I said he was a ballhog his rookie year. Taht's the only time I used "ballhog".

As for the criticism, I criticize Kevein Garnett! And he is better than Iverson, right? His team has been much better than the Sixers. Yet I get on him plenty of times. So why should Iverson escape it?

As for the last things about his shortcoming, I think you finally lost it, dude.

P2k I agree with almost everything you said about Iverson. However, his perimeter defense is top notch in the league and you didn't really give him credit for it. Also, you continue to say he's not a winner, but he did win an MVP and took the squad to the finals.

Another thing, I believe you guys can win with AI. You won with him before, albeit he was younger and healthier, but he's still dropped 50+ points a few times this season. I kinda believe that you're not really addressing the issue of not having a lot of good players on the Sixers. This is one of their youngest and worst lineups in years since AI has been there. I believe they should keep AI but trade some of the young bucs for some old heads for veteran leadership. You had a great veteran player in Aaron McKie who was a big part of the ECF run in 2001. Other than these things, you hit head on with Iverson.

He's still my favorite player ever, so you can call me a homer.

No, no, no Ofizzle, I didn't say he was an MVP candidate at all, look at my posts on the first page. This argument kind of got off the main subject of who should be the MVP. I don't think Iverson can be considered because his team doesn't have a winning record. I wasn't arguing that, I was just arguing about how some people really dont' think Iverson is that great of a player. If Iverson's team had a winning record, then I would consider him one. But being an MVP candidate on a losing team is just ridiculous. I'd actually just have Duncan as the MVP this year. Garnett right now is putting up better numbers than he did last year, but his team is really struggling. I think its kind of ironic how an MVP is only as valuable as the supporting cast around him. Garnett putting up better stats than last year (should be an obvious MVP repeat), but the surrounding players aren't performing and the team isn't winning (makes him a candidate but not a probable winner at this time). I think if this was a perfect world than someone like Nash would win it becasue he truly is the most valuable (look at how the Suns are playing without him-losing streak anyone?). But then again, if it was indeed a perfect world then Duncan and Shaq would win every year and alternate like back when Magic and Kareem kept alternating MVPs in their prime years.

I'm done with the Iverson conversation. I mentioned him being black twice that's all. No racial thing at all, I'm black so obviously I'm not racist against my own race. I listed things that people over the course of his career have criticized him about. And why does P2K keep saying "You Iverson fans." Aren't you an Iverson fan yourself? On the Garnett thing, this might sound kind of ridiculous (forgive me for saying it), but I do think Iverson is on the same level as Garnett. Hear me out first, they both have MVP trophies, both put up gaudy stats, but Garnett hasn't taken them to the Finals and Iverson has, that's it I'm done. I just wanted to say that and see what you guys think. Let's get back to talking about what player should win the MVP award.

What causes me to try to defend him so much is because it seems that every single time someone posts something positive about Iverson on this board, there are always about 5-10 more negative posts bringing up the shortcomings of Iverson. Someone posts on the forum "Iverson had a great game tonight, 39 pts and 14 assists." And then someone will come on and post "Yeah, whatever, he can't win a championship, he's too much of a thug, he's not a team player (he got lucky with those 14 assists), he jacks up too many shots." I just get so sick and tired of there being a hoard of people who just can't wait for someone to post something positive that Iverson did just so they can bombard the forum with past problems or things Iverson still struggles with. That's why I post like I do.

And you have to understand where I am coming from. I've been a loyal Sixer fan since I was a kid, going to games and getting the apparel. This is my team. One of the proudest franchises in basketball. And since 2001, this team has been mediocre at best and have since become worse. I'm tired of the losing.

Neither Nash nor Amare deserves it, in my opinion. They need each other.
