If he’s smart, he’ll take the full max if they offer it to him. Especially in this economy and all this uncertainty going on as far as what the new CBA will look like going forward.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
That’s definitely something to look at that’s been said a lot this year. We don’t know how things are going to look next offseason, we honestly don’t even know how money will look this offseason. The uncertainty of the financial situation of the league moving forward should probably see a lot of the mid tiers and just below the reach of max money guys looking to get all they can get now so they aren’t flushing away cash later.

Would be neat to see D'Antoni in Brooklyn, if true.

They’re going to sign Melo and win a ring and I’m going to commit seppuku in front of MSG.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
The Nets need solid leadership and a bunch of defensive guys surrounding KD/Kyrie if they're gonna win anything. I still think this is an odd-fit duo, mainly cause of their personalities, and they didn't do themselves any favors with that "anyone could be a head coach depending on the day" nonsense they spewed on their podcast.
Not only that but we still don't know what KD will look like. I think his offensive game will still be elite cause he can still shoot over everyone but he's likely not as explosive and that will effect him on the defensive end more.
I wonder if they're gonna try to form a Big 3, might not be a bad idea since KD is a question mark at this point.Comment

Nets don’t need to form a Big 3 and I’m not sure why I keep seeing people mention that either. LeVert was finally healthy and shown he can hold his own. If he can continue doing that in a Manu-like role, especially with his contract, they’ll be fine.
They’re both known for saying things that don’t help anyone and those comments certainly didn’t, even if you listened to their comments with full context. It was magnified worse because of who said it, if you actually listened to the interview, they weren’t that big of a deal.
If KD can be what Dirk was after he blew his Achilles out, I will gladly take that because even with his skill set and playmaking, he’s still better than 90% of the league.
There’s something to be said about having too many cooks in the Kitchen, which I THINK could be the case with Nash, Vaughn, D’Antoni, Handy but ultimately for them, it’ll come down to them getting guys to buy into their roles.
Personality issues are a weird one because it’s not like those 2 in particular are polar opposites of each other and are/have been already close for the last 3-4 years.
And every team needs leadership and solid defensive players so that’s not saying much.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 10-14-2020, 11:10 AM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
The East is still wide open and as long as KD isn't a complete shell of himself I expect the Nets to be a (the) favorite in the East even without making any big roster moves. They may have a rocky regular season but they'll be right there come playoff time. I'm not that worried about their chemistry, they'll figure it out. Nobody gives a **** about their comments and the only reason why people faked outrage over them was because of who said it. They’re both known for saying things that don’t help anyone and those comments certainly didn’t, even if you listened to their comments with full context.

I too would stick with Lavert and see what they've got. I don't know their cap situation but regardless of what they do, whether they can be a legitimate contender will depend on what KD looks like and like most teams top guys, can Kyrie (and KD) stay healthy?Comment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
So the rumor mills are gonna start churning out pretty soon aka reporter credibility season!
With that said, I'll go first. Windy says Dallas is going to be front of the line going after Giannis so expect them to mostly sit out FA this year so they can keep their books clear. They want Luka/Porzingis/Giannis.
Can you imagine that trio? *** ****Comment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
I don’t think Giannis is going to leave. He’s gone out of his way to say so to this point. I know guys say stuff all the time but it just seems like he’s constantly doubling down.
I listened to both parts of the KD Kyrie pod and I took the coaching stuff more as a...reaction, I don’t want to say jab, but more in response to the way Kenny coached than anything about what Nash will do. It seems like Nash has said both publicly and privately that he just wants to be the guy who lets them become their best selves, not force them into any kind of system. Whether or not it works out, we’ll see but at this point I’m expecting a full on Adrian Peterson come back for KD. God hates the Knicks and people have been trying to convince themselves that we are better off without KD so he will come back and it’s gonna be gross.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
