    2020 Offseason Thread

Why the **** would Detroit trade Kennard for a 19th pick especially in THIS draft? This is why they are so trash.

This whole Bogdanovic trade is mind-boggling.

Bogdan and Giannis are friends, Bogdan just followed Jrue on twitter... I 100% believe this is all a smokescreen to avoid tampering. But even if it is tampering, voiding the trade and fining Milwaukee $5m and a first round pick too??? Why? It's just a trade for Milwaukee, and last time I checked trades are legal right now, so idk how Milwaukee could be in the wrong.

Yes, obviously im biased, but Sacramento is the one signing him when free agency isnt open yet.

Golden State IMO should be trying to use that trade exception to acquire a replacement for Klay for this season. I still think LaVine is a good target, maybe even Oladipo or Hardaway JR..

I know those guys make a bit too much to directly be absorbed by the trade exception. But Golden State could always acquire a player just under that amount and then turn around and trade him with some firsts instead.

James Johnson, Gorgui Dieng, Bismack Biyombo, Brandon Knick, etc.

My guess is they are worried about these things:
            1. Injury history. If he gets hurt again, his trade value drops even more. That, or you have to pay a guy who isn't going to be consistently in the lineup.
            2. He's going to be an RFA next season. As a shooter in today's NBA, they probably expect him to get a big offer sheet. As per above, they probably don't want to pay him.
            3. He doesn't fit the window. It's pretty clear that they just finished year 1 of the rebuild.

Do I agree that the Pistons made the right move? No, I'd probably gamble that he improves and stays healthy long enough to ship him off at the deadline. That said, I'm just happy the Pistons have some sort of direction; it feels like they've been aimless for over a decade. They have done a reasonably good job this past week of adding youth and weaponizing cap space.

All of that makes sense to me.

It was just bizarre at the time. I know he missed a lot of games but when playing he was their leading scorer on the team after D Rose. So you've got a proven starter, proven to be a decent level scorer where 15+ a game from him is realistic, and one of the best shooters in the league, and he gets sent out for a 19th pick in an assumed to be weak draft.. I don't feel they are wrong for moving him, I just felt like they could have gotten more, decent young player, another pick, etc.

I know Detroit has been bad, but I compare him some to a guy like Duncan Robinson and I think he's better than him and there is no way he goes that cheap right now.

Regardless, I like the pick for Detroit, a lock of mocks had Bey going earlier than that and he was BPA available on ESPN last night for a few picks before he was actually selected as well. So I think Detroit did solid with their choice, odds are if they had traded him for a 12th pick or something they might have selected the same guy they got at 19.

Also excellent pick up for the Clippers. They had almost no off-ball shooters on the roster last year and this is a huge grab for them IMO. He's got to stay healthy, but they had too many ball in hand guys on the team and this is a step in the right direction.

I'm a bit confused by the Nets. Perhaps they are moving Dinwiddie and want that more combo-guard skilled guy to replace him. But I would think as an off ball shooting threat they would have been better off just trading for Kennard rather than getting Shamet from the Clipps. I guess they could also think he's a little too redundant since they are resigning Harris, still if all things stay put I don't see Shamet really cracking the rotation when Kennard probably would.

Also, Memphis absolutely killed yet another draft.

                  Desmond Bane
                  Xavier Tillman
And they picked up Killian Tillie on a two-way deal after the draft.

Perfect fits for their needs and team construction in general.

Probably, and especially if/when there is a trade. but as currently constructed I think Kennard would have been first man in for Harris/LeVert and also see larger chunks in minutes because he's better suited to play off KD and Kyire.. Where as it feels like Shamet will be behind Kyrie and then Dinwiddie and maybe competing for a few minutes with Brown also. Shamet does have more combo-guard skills, it's just a little more redundant with Dinwiddie there.
