2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
They do. They might have two of them at this point I’m 100% sure but they’ve had the 2026 tradable for the past 2-3 seasons now. Since you can trade picks 7 years out I would assume they could trade the 2028 as well but maybe that’s next year. IdkLast edited by ojandpizza; 01-13-2022, 11:16 PM.Comment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
I laugh hard every time I see the latest rumor on what Daryl wants in return. He keeps leaking stuff to Woj in some attempt to gain leverage. The whole we’re asking for more than we did before and we’re looking to unload Tobias in the same deal to make a run at a major free agent is entertaining and hilarious.
You ever negotiate with a six year old who makes outlandishly unreasonable demands? Reminds me of that.Comment

Philly completely screwed itself here. They had the leverage back in the summer-early fall before the season started. They have managed to completely bungle that in a way I've never seen before.

I don't like the idea of bringing back Ben for this season either. Yes, we are missing what he brings to the table. This past loss against Charlotte, shows that we are a very slow team outside of Maxey and Matisse. This team is still constructed on having Ben on the floor. But, overall the chemistry is good now. So unless he is mentally checked in, they don't need him on the floor not bought in.
I can see Simmons not being traded this season. But, they still need to make a trade. As constructed, this team ceiling is getting to the 2nd round. They desperately need to upgrade the Wing. I know it's not a favorable contract, but I would look to trade Tobias at the very least. I would pair Tobias, a unprotected first(or at least top 20), and a young player(not Maxey or Matisse) to get Tobias out of here. I would definitely do a Tobias, Joe, and a 1st for Barnes and BagleyComment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
Embid saying he doesn't feel there should be urgency in getting a deal done --
""When I look at where we are when we got most of the team in the lineup, especially me in the lineup, then we are 21 and 9. That's not bad. That's up there with the best records in the NBA. So, all that tells me is that we just got to stay healthy, keep doing what we've been doing."
There is a flaw in his thinking. He's comparing full strength sample size Philly to the complete work of top teams. Every team has had games where they were without key players.
This season is really hard to be confident about where a team is at because of the health and safety protocols. Get a big win against a key rival, but that rival was missing key players.Comment

Put, I do think we are getting back to a point where we will see teams with majority of roster available. They just stopped the increased testing to just unvaccinated and symptomatic players. I think we are under 25 NBA players in the H&S Protocols. And under 25 players on hardship deals. So unless there is another big wave, things should get a lot better relatively soon.
Teams will have about 2-3 weeks to see how their teams really are. I think within 1-2 weeks, we will be under 10 players in H&S and down to handful of hardship dealsComment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
Here you go, Will
Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:
SACRAMENTO — Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox’s name is circulating throughout the league as a big-time player who can potentially be moved by the Feb. 10 NBA trade deadline.
The Philadelphia 76ers canvassed the prospect of a Fox-Ben Simmons trade package as recently as a few days ago, but dialogue remains exploratory due diligence, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Kings have received an abundance of interest in Fox and second-year guard Tyrese Haliburton, but the internal plan is to build around those two cornerstones in the backcourt rather than shipping them out, sources said. The 76ers canvassed the prospect of a Fox-Ben Simmons trade package as recently as a few days ago, but dialogue remains exploratory due diligence, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
I said before the season, I would take Fox because I knew Lillard and Beal were unrealistic. But, that was before the progress shown from Maxey. Like with McCollum compared to Curry, yes Fox is an upgrade. But, essentially already have cheaper versions. And Maxey already shown to be a better shooter and more willing defender than Fox. I'd rather have Haliburton.
I'd be for a deal centered about Haliburton, Hield, and Barnes for Simmons and Harris. I'm not trying to wait until the offseason, praying for a star to want out. It'd be nice to have someone next to Embiid who can score 25-30 a night. But at this point, I'd rather take the team approach rather than the co-star approach. Plus in most of these proposed deals, we're not really losing anything since Simmons hasn't played. We're adding onto what we already have. Plus, if we can get off Simmons and Harris's contracts and get other contracts that are tradeable, we can make a run at another star next year
Like I said before, Brandon Ingram would be my preferred target ATM. Him next to Embiid would be a great pairing. If they could do a 3 team that involves Kings, I would do it. Something like: SAC-Simmons, Harris. NO-Fox and Barnes. PHI-Ingram, Hield, and Satoransky. That works financially and could benefit all 3 teams. Would SAC want to take on that much, no. But, it is good enough to get them into the play-in. Fox and Barnes could be good pairing with Zion. Adding Ingram and Hield drastically improves the wing.Comment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
Obviously a change of scenery, role, and coaching/teammates can make a huge difference but Buddy Hield looks absolutely horrible this year. I wouldn’t even want him back in a trade and if that’s part of the package would strongly look for a 3rd team who desperately needs shooting to get help in other areas. Curry and Maxey are both better options currently.Comment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
It’s probably more realistic to expect the 76ers trade process to be a 2 step process
1. First trade done strictly on value since fit doesn’t seem great for them at the moment.
2. 2nd trade done in the off-season to address what the 76ers see as a better fit."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

I only included Buddy because of having to make the money work on a Tobias deal. If it's just Simmons, than a PHI-Ingram, NO-Fox, and SAC-Simmons would work for all 3 teams .
When it comes to including Tobias, I feel like the main two teams you could get to accept his contract is either SAC deal including Ben or OKC as a 3rd or 4th deal if you throw them a 1st lolComment

Re: 2021-22 NBA Trade Deadline
I'm hoping the Wizards can land either a proven second scoring option or a superb team defender at forward. Avdija is a quality on ball defender, but his help defense is lacking. That is the biggest weakness for this team. So many missed or late rotations and uncontested layups with the defenders left looking like "who had that?" We need a guy who can improve the team defense.
I agree. I think he's just taking the leadership role trying to instill confidence in his guys. We still have clear obvious weaknesses that puts a cap on our ceiling.

As a Wizards fan I have zero opinion on that. I have no idea how well a plan of pairing a pacey point guard with another guard would work. I cannot recall any similar approaches in the past...
Seriously my advice to Sac would be to pick one of the two. Trade the other for valuable assets. Their trade value is only going to go down in all likelihood.Comment

I agree that he is just being the leader and instilling confidence in the team and organization. It did make me think about the difficulty of this season and the trade deadline. Wonder if this could cause some teams to be more aggressive or cautious at the deadline.
Regarding the internal plan to build around those two,

I agree about trying to build around those two PGs, especially when you just drafted another PG as well lol. I would look to move Fox if I were the Kings. Haliburton showed he could be a good playmaker and plays well off ball so he could play next to Mitchell.
Wonder when they are going to trade Bagley as well. Detroit seems like a good landing spot for him to get an opportunity to show what he can do.
I think Kings are one of the likely teams to make a trade. I think they want to at least make the play-in. Fox, Barnes, Hield, and Bagley are all likely to be moved. I think Barnes has the most value. He's at a good number that is on a descending contract and he's plug and play on most teams.Comment
