Less than 1% of the city’s employees. Nobody is going throw a fit for making an exemption for him, lol.

What reason is there right now for that mandate to remain in place?

It’s more about control/optics now. Every other city on the East Coast has dropped their mandate, yet here we are…

A few years ago there was a surge in cases of measles, a disease that we’d supposedly eradicated in 2000 because of people not getting vaccinated, so they killed the religious exemption for schoolkids to opt out. I think they’re just sick of the foolery. Then it’s like with the shutdown, once you open up its hard to close again, people will just move like everything is ok. The number of people supposed to get fired a couple weeks ago was like 3 or 4 thousand, so the threat worked for most people like it did for Wiggins.

If they're still threatening to fire city employees and teachers I think we are a long way from Kyrie coming back.

He’ll be back by the end of March at the latest, I feel very confident in saying that.

Again, this is all optics/politics at this point. People always talking about Politicians caving in, I don’t expect this to go any differently.

              The mood has definitely shifted.

Mandates are being dropped everywhere and I'd wager we are moving into accepting Covid and moving forward approach.

The tweets Pack linked to are the mayor's first step towards ending the rule. He's dipping his toes in first before jumping in

I think the Post polled NYCers a couple weeks ago and like a majority of people supported the mandates, and a slight majority of people basically hate the unvaxxed. If this was Aaron Judge, I think we see movement ASAP. But as of now, this affects basically Kyrie alone. And who really cares other than Nets fans? I don’t think there’s much pressure in the city, but we’ll see.

This Nets-Knicks game has big mid 2010s energy around it to where I can’t muster enough damns to give about.

K.C. Johnson@KCJHoop·6mPer Billy Donovan, Zach LaVine’s visit went “very well” and some “swelling was taken out of his knee.” He was given a lubricant and he’s cleared for activity within 48 hours. LaVine is eligible physically to attend All-Star. There will be meeting with Bulls doctors about minutes
I'mma just need my boy to take a seat for a couple weeks or so. We been playing without a full roster all year anyway, may as well just roll with who we got and let this man rest up for the playoffs.

FWIW, like 80% of DC residents support the masking and vaccine rules and they just repealed it all anyways (though apparently there’s some buzz to put them back in place already…idk I’m in Australia right now so I’m a bit out of the loop).

I definitely think we’re beginning to near the end of all of these mandates. Of course another serious wave could change all that.

Yeah, those lasted a month and they’d already rescinded and reinstated a mask mandate. Now they’re getting eaten up for ending this mandate with no warning. Hardly an example to follow, but again, we shall see.

You talking about in DC or Virginia?

The tide is already starting to turn on these mandates all up and down the NE/Mid Atlantic from people and Politicians(the same folks who were in favor of them in the first place). Numbers have gone down and are continuing to go down, support for the mandates are continuing to drop and will be even lower by the summer and by midterms as well.

In DC, unless the next version that comes out makes you grow a third arm or an extra foot, them mandates aren’t coming back. And DC was just as strict with their mandates as NY was.

And that 80% number is funny because only like a quarter of the city is vacinnated, lol.

Folks here been ready to move on for a min.

DC. They would’ve tried that **** around here and it would’ve been tiki torches and “don’t tread on me” flags going crazy. But being strict is one thing, NY has had their mandate for half a year, DC killed theirs in a month. I was just at the AEW shows there a couple weeks ago, they weren’t checking **** lol.
