"BREAKING: Billionaire mortgage lender Mat Ishbia is finalizing a purchase of the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. The deal, expected to be completed in the near future, would end the tumultuous tenure of owner Robert Sarver."

Teams have been calling about OG Anunoby.

Raptors price apparently is the typical Raptors price. "We will do the deal if we're clearly winning it".

Which, apparently consists of a Donovan Mitchell like return.

Well, do other teams think that OG can reach another level or two? That'll be the question they need to ask, but he currently is not worth multiple lightly protected 1st round picks.

I would love him or his player type on the Spurs just not at that steep a price, though.

Teams love overvaluing their own players when it comes to compensation.

Unless that player can elevate the rest of the team and bring significant improvement from where they’re currently at, there’s really only a handful of players worth giving up that much for.

I actually think the Raptors are justified in asking for quite a bit for OG. He’s averaging nearly 20 a game with career highs in points, rebounds, blocks, steals (leads the league, also leads the league in deflections too).. and a quote about some of his defense this season:

Anunoby had a 6-game stretch where his main defensive assignments were a collection of offensive superstars: Jaylen Brown, Paolo Banchero, Kevin Durant, Zion Williamson, Donovan Mitchell, and Luka Doncic. Collectively, here's how they fared: 17/41, 41 pts, 4 turnovers, 3 blocked attempts, 48:10 (yes, an entire game's worth of defensive mastery). Banchero was held to single-digits for the first time in his young career, while Mitchell had his 121-game streak of scoring in double figures snapped.
All while being paid under 20 mil for the next 3 years. He’s basically a defensive first team guy who also can score and space the floor with the three ball. And at 6’7, he’s basically what every team in the league is after.

But I feel like most importantly he understands that’s what his role is. Like he’s not a guy giving you 19 a night thinking it should be 25 a night and he needs all the touches. He just consistently gives you top tier defense and fringe All-Star level scoring. If I’m Toronto and he’s not asking for a trade, causing me issues in the locker-room and all that I’m flat out just not trading him unless somebody offers a star/haul of pics. Not saying he’s got equal value as someone like Donovan Mitchell, but I don’t know that he’s too far off from a guy like LaVine and he makes less than half the money making him more appealing IMO. To me he looks a lot like Jimmy Butler did when he first started looking like he could be an All-Star level guy.

Seems like tons of teams are interested. I have no idea without looking which teams have good matching salaries, and tradable draft picks.. but I look at a team like Denver who has climbed to first in the West now without MPJ playing.. if they could add him for some haul of picks they would start looking like the team to beat. Not sure if Milwaukee would have the means to add him, or if Cleveland could make a run at him. Those would be interesting as well.

Multiple as in just more than 1? I think he’s easily worth 2 protected firsts.

I agree. Something close to the Murray package IMO.

For that price we’re paying vs the value we’re getting, we may have to start tampering a lot more.

Leader in steals and arguably a top 15-20 defender in basketball right now (tied with guys like KD and Jaylen Brown in defensive win share).

Put him on a better team surrounded by offensive guys, and he's your defensive stopper.

CLEVELAND — There is no denying Paul Silas’ label as a rugged, no-nonsense former NBA player and head coach. As a player, Silas was NBA All-Defensive first team…
