As I've said before, I'm so glad the Bengals are so good right now because I don't have to pay attention to that Lakers dumpster fire.

Jeannie Buss is in way over her head

The Lakers are operating like a poverty franchise. Imagine wasting away another year of LeBron when he's 38.

        Sell the team!

Interesting I’ve not read the details of any of it, but yea something is definitely going on. Clearly people aren’t on the same page in and lot of rumors lately

AD - playing like an MVP type of player before he went down.

Bron - (who finally looks healthy too) putting up 34/7/7 on 58% while AD has been out.

Lakers management - Having two guys like this just isn’t enough to try and compete right now.

            Makes absolutely no sense.

I think my biggest issue with it all is these two picks don’t really jeopardize their future. If this doesn’t work and you want to blow this up do they really think they can’t get those two picks back? AD will easily get two picks, if they move on from Bron teams would trade two picks for him to make ticket/tv money alone. It makes no sense.

Lakers will have a first and second round pick this year, they will have one of the first in 24/25 and both seconds, 26 both picks, 27 both picks, 28 both picks, 29 both picks.. idk why it’s being treated like if they trade those two picks they are just out of picks for the next decade or something lol.

My only thought is maybe they are operating on the idea that this off-season once the draft happens they will technically have 3 first round picks they can trade. They can trade the 23 pick once he’s signed, the 27, and the 29. Problem is what outgoing salary would they have at that point to make a move? Especially if they are hoping to have 30ish mil to land a 3rd star? Idk it’s like their decision making has progressively gotten worse each year.

This graphic was as of a couple games ago I think so idk what the numbers are as of this moment. But the whole reason to get Russ was to avoid this still happening.. it hasn’t worked. And even though he’s been a great 6th man that’s never going to make up for the fact that they need shooting, size, length on the wings, etc. it’s just too many roster flaws and Ham rarely trusts him to play a 4th quarter anyways. Maybe they really think more teams will be blowing things up closer to the deadline, but with AD out I’m assuming that will be too late. The only games they stay in currently are the ones where Thomas Bryant flirts with some 20 and 12 type of numbers. He’s not going to just average that for the next month.

I mean ultimately it doesn’t really matter unless Embiid has some contract boosts tied to making a first team selection. But it just sucks for him because he’s easily playing at a first team level. 15 years from now people will look back on his career when guys who watched him talk him up and they are going to be like “he never even made a first team”. At least all of us will know he was hoopin.

I just thought it was an interesting thought. Throughout most of the leagues history with two guys going like that they will eventually trade off. But every time Embiid seems to take another step so does Joker. And even if they allowed two “bigs” or let one qualify as a forward you’ve still got Giannis who is basically a lock. Kinda sucks because I feel like we’re only going to have so many complete seasons from Embiid.

It’ll just seem weird looking back years later that Joel might never make one but names like Jordan and Noah will be there. Wild. That’s kinda why I also hate looking at just MVP awards rather than MVP caliber seasons. Only one guy can win it each year. Joel and Giannis last year had good enough years to win it 99% of the time, just didn’t happen that particular year. Same could be said for DPOY too.

They're also banking on another signing this offseason when Westbrook's contract is up but don't they have like $~30mil in cap space but like 11 roster spots that will be open? They can't be dumb enough to go 3rd star chasing again but who knows with them.

And there are none... Unless they still think Kyrie is leaving, or they are stupid enough to think Draymond solves their problems.. Top players this off-season are Middleton and VanVleet and both have player options. Gary Trent is another, and a guy they've been linked to. But if think that is the type of player worth wasting a season for then they've got bigger issues lol.

I think their only shot at a "star" is if Chicago or Washington blows it up. Chicago very unlikely as they could seek deals with other teams. Beal is also incredibly unlikely but there is always the slimmest of chances he could say he would only waive his no-trade clause for a trade to LAL. Regardless I don't know what Beal solves other than just having another star for the sake of having another star. They would still lack size, length on the wing, and elite shooting.

The absolute pipe dream scenario would be something like Beal waiving his no-trade clause to go to LAL. And LAL gets back something like Kuz, Gafford, and one of Morris/Wright for expiring salary the two firsts, and some seconds or swaps. Washington could clear 70-80ish mil in cap room for next season with that. Lakers would land a 3rd star, shooting, length on the wing, and another big.

Again that just something that could happen in theory. Not at all likely. Beal has never expressed interest in leaving Washington. It would have to be combination of Washington moving towards a rebuild and Beal waiving his no-trade clause. Even if all that aligns Washington could likely do better getting returns for Kuz and Morris in separate trades. Something like Beal, Gafford, Barton might be slightly more realistic.

Even then if Beal and Washington agreed to part ways is he choosing LAL knowing where they stand and their lack of health? Possibly if he thinks he propels them back to contender status. But there would be a lot better "sure thing" options out there for him.

Looks like team LeBron vs KD again at the ASG.

They should mix it up and just have it so the same person can't win back to back years (or would that just lead to the same group of 4 getting chosen?).

Kills things a bit when the same guys are drafting teams, so it'll be a similar style of draft/teams as their last year's one.

Like, do you think KD is picking Harden this year either? That's an easy "last pick" for LeBron knowing that.

Gonna be a lot of pearl clutching from certain sections of NBA Media if Kyrie gets selected or even makes it as a starter. 🥴

I meant why would Kyrie making an All-Star team be somebody not getting their way? I’ve not seen/read/heard one thing about anybody not wanting him there?

Pack fighting imaginary foes. Haven't heard anything like that either, doesn't mean that they don't exist either I guess (pretty much all views that could be had on anything in the universe are held by at least 1 person).

Let's see who makes this group of "nerds/bloggers" who argue “Silver needs to step in and prevent that from happening”.

If anything, "nerds" might be allies of Kyrie in this case. "Kyrie has the numbers, he deserves it regardless of any "moral" argument" could easily be how the case gets made.

I could see some "uneasiness" or "awkwardness" for "rewarding" Kyrie with an All-Star spot. Anything more than that, we shall see.
