I’ve yet to sit through a full game to see where his strengths lie outside of the highlight clips, but what made Chet look intriguing despite the frail frame was his defensive awareness from any spot on the floor was just off the charts at the collegiate level. I realize I need to watch more game action from Victor but these blocks he gets because some 6’3 kid is too stupid to realize he can’t shoot the same jumper over a 7’4 guy that he does against a 6’8 guy tells me nothing about how this guy is going to look at the next level lol.

Idk I just see a ton of similarities with him and Porzingis. IMO he looks a bit less fluid/more clunky than Chet but he has much more natural scoring instincts. His handle and footwork into getting off a shot is super impressive for a guy his size.. But, like Porzingis, that’s all I’ve seen him do is try to score. And while his body is much better than Chet’s I don’t think he’s got nearly the size of Porzingis. Idk what they weigh but I’d guess Zinger has 20-30 pounds on him. He has the same hunched over posture as both of them. Basically nothing like a Giannis frame and IMO not much better than either of Chet or Zinger.

Giannis/KD stuff is just way too early. Plays nothing like either one of them. He just so happens to be super lanky like they are.

All of that said, he has the potential to be a generational talent like everyone says. Somewhat concerning to me that his game is all operate from the perimeter though. Regardless of his frame watching Chet operate from the post and high post frequently was a bit of relief. Seeing him crash the offensive glass, operate as a passer, etc.. like I said I’m only seeing clips, but turn over the shoulder jumpers against these other small young guys doesn’t tell me a ton at this point. I get the hype though.

KP didn’t come into the league euro-stepping, shooting from 30 feet out and posting dude up.

He was strictly a perimeter jump shooter. And he couldn’t rebound to save his life.

        Athletically they’re not even close.

100% not true. People forget what he was doing before injuries slowed him down.

And nobody knows if Victor can rebound or post up playing NBA level talent either.. that’s my point. He’s not even posting up these 6’5 18 year olds now.

This is pretty deep. I guess I don't care about his post up game right now. That will come with age. I think we should stop treating these type of players like old school big man.

51K likes, 294 comments - draftexpress on October 10, 2022: "Victor Wembanyama’s serious approach to his stretching, flexibility and activation sessions should offer some comfort regarding his ability to avoid the catastrophic foot, back and knee injuries that have plagued other giants in his mold historically. After working with Dirk Nowitzki’s longtime coach Holger Geschwindner, Wembanyama was encouraged to forgo a heavy weightlifting routine and let his frame fill out naturally, giving NBA teams and their army of performance and sports science doctors a near blank slate to work with".

I always think of Dejuan Blair abusing Hasheem Thabeet in the Big east. (not comparing Victor to Thabeet overall, just in the bully ball area)

we'll get more info when we get it, too early for judgment, for now he looks awesome, and we'll see

I think the Hype is too much to pass on though. Especially if you're one of those bottom teams. Your talking about the potential to change the league. Like I posted above I like the approach they are coming at this with him. They have Dirks original trainer working on everything with him. He really focuses on balance of the body and let it fill out natural. Think of KD. Not putting on unnecessary weight to body. But I guess we'll see.

Yeah it might be too much to pass up. But if I were a GM and rated some other prospects highly, I'd have a significant urge to trade down. Moving down to take Scoot #2 and getting an additional first round pick(s) isn't the worst thing.

Of course if VW stays healthy and is as good as advertised, I'd be the butt of every joke and be #1 in most people's list of dumb draft decisions.

I've heard this idea a few times over the years. I'm talking about trading down. It doesn't make sense to trade down. You can always trade the talent later on. Like the Sixers did.
