I don't know man. That's the same thought process for Sam Bowie, Greg Oden, Zion. Maybe if we haven't be so horribly burned by career threatening (ending basically) injuries over the last 15 years I'd feel differently.

This is so different though. Wemby is arguably the most dominant prospect his age to ever come out of Europe (Luka may have something to say about that) and is considered to be among the top 3-5 prospects of all-time. The alternatives in this draft are a short PG that's struggled to shoot the ball and struggled to get to the rim in a league that basically doesn't even try to stop you from getting to the rim, an old freshman who struggles to get to the rim and was implicated in a murder, and a pair of freakishly athletic twins who have been playing in glorified rec games for two years (and in the case of Amen, has a chance to be Ben Simmons level of non-shooter).

The Hakeem/Bowie/MJ draft was before my time so I won't speak to what level of prospect MJ was considered to be at the time, but this year's crop is nowhere near the level of prospect that Durant and Ja were and Bowie/Oden/Zion were not the same level of prospect that Wemby is either.

This is one of the easiest draft decisions any GM will ever have if they get the #1 pick. If any team is that scared of Wemby, they should at least trade the pick because they'll be able to likely get the #2 or #3 pick (or whatever they desire) along with a lot of other assets. Before this season began, he was already viewed as one of the top 5-10 most valuable trade assets in the league and he's taken a monumental leap forward since then while the other guys in the draft have slipped if anything.

Don't get me wrong, I ain't gonna sit here and cry if we get #1 and Wemby is the choice. I'll ride with it and watch along excited for the future, but I'll continue to be terrified of our history, coupled with the history of dudes that big and until he puts on some weight.

All this likely won't even matter though cause we probably walking out of tonight without a first round pick this year anyway lol

Of all the bottom teams, who would be the best with Wemby?

Pistons since they already have Cade?

Hornets with Ball (and possibly trade Williams for a forward?)

Blazers with Lillard (I could see them really pulling the trigger on a big move for OG with Simons part of the deal the other way so they'd have Lillard,OG,Wemby)

          Rockets with their young core?

Thanks for not even mentioning the Spurs, Maj. [emoji849][emoji38]

In all seriousness, SA would be a great landing spot for him if it happens. They already have some complimentary talent, tons of cap space and future assets to add to their group.

They'd still be another high pick or two (panning out) from being a playoff contender, but Wemby would make their future clearer.

One other thing, I understand people's concerns about Scoot's shooting. Yet, I also think it is being overstated at the next level. He could end up being the next Dennis Smith Jr, but he could just as easily become the "next" Ja Morant or Derrick Rose.

He has next-level explosiveness and a great first-step. And he's probably a better passer as an "amateur" than Rose, Smith Jr., or Morant.

I don't think Spurs with him would be better than those other teams.

Although if I had to bet on a team winning the lottery, I'd bet on the Spurs

I stopped trying to project how someone at 18-19 will look 3-5 years down the line, awhile ago.

There’s always so many different factors that can come into play that always feels like a waste of time, for me at least.

You crazy. Spurs have the better coach (minus Udoka, maybe), plus draft capital, a ton of cap space, and some talent (key word: some [emoji38]).

Detroit and Houston are completely directionless at the moment.

Blazers aren't winning with that group even if you add Wemby, IMO.

I also could just be hating, but none of those spots are a better landing place.

Maybe Charlotte since they already have one franchise-building block in LaMelo.

All those people for the draft LOTTERY

                    Woj Bomb.

Wemby is greatest player in sports history.

No offense, but I'd say LeBron and McDavid have had way bigger hype in their respective leagues.

LeBron as the next Jordan/Kobe level guy. McDavid hyped like next Lemieux/Gretzky.

Don't think Victor has gotten that hype. Definitely hype of a top #1 pick, but not THE #1 pick ever.

I do like the fit of Brandon Miller to the Hornets.

If Miller does go second, I wonder how Portland approaches that #3 pick with Scoot being there. I get drafting best available, but don't think drafting him makes as much sense. So I could see them flipping that pick for immediate help or contemplate trading Dame
