Pack, you were right about the Rockets.

I saw that they gave up a combined 293 points and lost by a combined 50 points the last two games. Silas is fed up and basically said they are giving any effort on defense and not getting after it.

Something needs to change because this isn't helping the future. It's one thing to tank, but you still have to develop a build a culture

It starts from the top, man.

It’s easy to throw a bunch of young guys together on a team and say “Go play and get better because you’re young and have potential” but you still need to have the RIGHT people there along the way to guide them and make sure they’re developing the RIGHT habits on/off the court.

From Ownership to Management to Coaching to the Locker Room, you need to have the right people in place otherwise you’re going to have a bunch of growing pains but no actual growth. Eric Gordon is the oldest on the team but he leads by his play on the court and while that is good, you still need that extra vet presence on the bench that can provide it to players even if they’re not playing(think Udonis Haslem for example)

Just seems like they have a bunch of young guys playing for themselves and not together.

Man, I've seen more random pick-up teams at 24 play with more of an identity, structure, and plan than the Rockets.

Even, Eric Gordon is fed up with the situation and the John Wall comments does seem to hold weight. Him and Boban are the main two vets. Besides that, they only have 3 guys over the age of 23(24, 26, 27). I'm sorry, but Gordon and Boban shouldn't be your main lockerroom vets, especially for this team. This team needs a cultural change

I do wonder what'll happen with Gordon. He has another year on his deal, but it is non-guaranteed. It's only fully guaranteed if he gets 500 mins plus a championship. I don't see them bringing him back next year unless they wanted to use his expiring contract as a part of a deal. Wouldn't be surprised if he is bought out

Not sure if Bron would purposely not get the record tonight but it would be cool to break the record against the Bucks while playing for the Lakers. Especially if he could do it on a little sky hook or whatever his version of that would look like lol.

Breaking it on a sky hook would be the corniest way ever lol he’d be doing that to mock Kareem than a sign of respect especially when you consider they don’t care for one another.

Just break it doing one of his basic *** breakaway one hand dunks lol

I’d prefer him to break it in a blowout loss at home with Giannis dropping 50.

I think the Rockets just need more time. We might change our minds if Sengun, Jalen Green, Jabari Smith develop. That core is just so young and raw.

But when comparing them to some of these other younger teams. For ex.. Magic and OKC. they definitely aren't on that level.

They might just be tanking to get a chance at Viktor too. You can see the improvement in Jalen Green, Sengun has made a massive jump. He's very intriguing going forward. I actually love what they are doing as far as stockpiling goes. I think they are 3 years away from competing.

OKC is a year away from being in the playoff mix. But they are masters of the draft and Shai is a superstar. Magic are probably 2 years away. Rockets are gonna take time. I still like their trajectory though. I love their draft picks though.

It's just gonna be a wait and see game. If they land Viktor and he's as good as advertised. Which apparently he's a once in a generation talent. Then the Rockets will be knocking on the door much sooner.

The team I think has absolutely no direction are the Hornets and the Spurs. I don't know what the hell they are doing.

What is good is having a team of young players with “potential” if the culture sucks and you have no identity/plan?

Your plan just can’t be “Let the young guy plays/grow out of their mistakes” if they’re not learning how to be Professionals. Developing/Building a good Culture goes beyond the court as well. I hope they figure it out though.

I agree with what everyone here is saying. Their best basketball was after Paul Silas passed. They played really well for like 5-6 games right there.

To be fair, you would have to compare the previous two years Thunder with the Rockets. Essentially, you think of a team that plays hard and loses games because of talent gap and youth mistakes. While also seeing that an identity is being formed Rockets definitely has talent, but it seems they're just doing whatever. Seems like there is no discipline or structure
