Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread

I'm happy with the way things turned out. I'm a Rockets fan, and this is a good experience for them as a team. Like someone mentioned above: missed FTs, bad rotation, phantom calls, bad calls, etc - and the Rockets were still right there.

I have to say that the mavericks have shocked me with their intensity the past 3 games. I think that has everything to do with great depth and having a defensive, intense coach. Way to get the lead. I believe we will close this thing out in Houston.

All the fouls ruined the game for me.

Let's see... the phantom call on McGrady as he was guarding Dirk and Dirk drove to the basket, the foul when the Rockets' were trapping, and Finley decides to strip the ball AS HE IS STANDING OUT OF BOUNDS... but, hey, bad free throws, horrid rotation, and miscommunication killed us near the end. But, still, what a badly officiated game.

Umm. Did Yao not step up at the end of the game 5 both offensively and defensively? Both Tracy and Yao both missed crucial free throws and so did Tracy in Game 3 and 4. I don't see you riding him.

Like I said earlier, this team only goes as far as TMac takes them. Yao put up almost 30 pts and the team still can't pull it out. I think the Rox need another scoring threat to compliment TMac and Yao. This small, mobile Mavs D just seems to swarm those 2 too well.

Well, T-Mac gets every touch foul around the basket possible, while Dirk gets driven to the floor on several occassions with no call.

Bad calls have gone both ways. No advantage to anyone.

A picture is worth a thousand words, or curse words in this case but I'm glad I don't cuss.

Keep in mind that Houston was down 3 at this point, but Stackhouse gets this "loose" ball and a foul call making 1 of 2 free throws killing Houston's momentum. Yes, it's true that had the Rockets made their free throws this may no even be an issue, but that in no way should excuse these "officials" from their shoddy work last night. And on a day and night when the officiating was under such scrutiny. Stern is being a real jerk in his treatment of Jeff Van Gundy.

Not calls that pathatic. Why even waste the effort if you are going to get screwed like that. I dont root for either team, but you cant let things like that slide. Who knows what would have happened on either side as far as how the game turns out, but come on now!. In any event these refs suck and it just keeps getting worse. I already know that when I watch the Pistons game tonight that I will see three calls that will make me sick. That isn't right.

Bad calls are one thing, say if a guy's foot was on the line or something. Horrid calls that kill momentum and send your best players to the bench thereby disrupting your gameplan should not be a part of any game. Not if this league wishes to maintain any semblance of integrity. The refs have been absolutely horrid, typified by the Finley phantom steal, and David Stern wants to sit atop his Mount Olympus and pretend there is no problem. It ain't right for the officials to be the deciding factor.

Im sorry Utexas, but if you are a fan of the game, you would not excuse this as just "part of the game"

This is the playoffs. This is a bunch of teams season on the line. Its not so much of who lost, but how things went about and how it happened.

Cuban would have been frantic had Mike James stripped the ball from jason Terry from out of bounds and jon barry got a foul call. Mind you it wasnt the only questionable call down the stretch.

This is not helping the game of basketball in the least bit. Continue to ignore these problems and watch the fanbase decline even more.
How can you keep interest in a game where tons of slap you in the face calls are blown on top of other blown calls?

I am in no way a conspiracy theorist, but the NBA needs also look at itself.
There is much more controversy in this game than any other sport, and continually at that. You cannot just say, dont criticize our refs.

I'm rooting for the Rockets and I was pissed at those bad calls last night. Would it have changed the outcome? Perhaps not, but you still don't blow those kinds of calls. But that's the nature of every sport. Bad calls just happen because we're all human. Refs are human and there's going to be some human error involved in all calls made.

There has to be a way to utilize our technology. But the game already is slow enough down the stretch and to implement some kind of video reply would be too time consuming.

If you're talking about crappy officiating, did you watch the Spurs/Nuggets game. There were a combined 91 free throws!!! Now that's crappy officiating.

So what do you want the refs to do? I'm pretty sure there is no conspiracy against the Rockets and I'm sure there were bad calls on both ends of the floor.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
