Maybe this guy started paying attention at midseason.

Nash deserves it more than anyone else...but most of the leagues real stars have pitiful supporting casts, eliminating them from MVP contention. Its kinda funny that Nash will have the unique distinction of being both the least prolific scorer and least effective defender in MVP history..which ironically makes his accomplishment all the more impressive.

This years MVP is a product of the right players meeting the right system...which in this tumultuous league is a rarity. Congrats to the Suns organization, its been a great year.

        It's a sympathy vote.

Name one person on the Sixers or Cavs outside of AI or LeBron who could drop 40 in a playoff win.

There is no rule that says the MVP must be named from the team with the best record. Nash's supporting cast is absolutely amazing. People are acting as if Amare would've put up about 10 PPG game if Nash wasn't there this year. Please. Amare is a man child and is just progressing as a player. If Nash put up 15 & 11, what would Kidd, Bibby, Tony Parker, etc. do with that team?

Nash should never, EVER be mentioned in the same breath as Magic or Stockton. Never.

            Bad comparison

            Magic Johnson's MVP year
23.9 points and 11.9 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game

            Nash MVP year
15 points and 11.1 assists 3.3 rebounds per game

            J Kidd's 2nd place MVP year stats
18.7 points and 8.9 assists 6.1 rebounds per game

Nash barely beats out Kidds best year when he came in 2nd place to Duncan.

I'm confused, are you supporting my point or trying to shoot it down?
If the former is true, you're doing a fine job.

Who said I was comparing their season's?He(Bigeastbumrush) is claiming that because Nash had a great supporting cast, the trophy should've gone to Iverson or Lebron.I'm just using Magic as an example of a point guard who had a great supporting cast winning the MVP.

                BTW,what was Kidd's FG% in 2003?

I can't believe all the nash haters out there...he makes EVERYONE not just the starting 5 better. It was a close race, and Nash won out. Get off his nuts, he's got the hardware...deal with it. Nash being white had nothing to do with it, and it wasn't a sympathy vote. He simply made PHX a better team...

Oh god that is gettin so old. Is Bo Outlaw better? How bout Paul Shirley? I still can't find a reason to say that Nash is the MVP of his own damn team. And the thing I'm findin very hypocritical about some people on here is that when people talk about Shaq's accomplishments and how he makes people better, their excuse is Wade was already good. Well last time I checked, Amare and Marion weren't chopped liver. I'm sure I'll get another "look at their record" when Nash was out. Ummm excuse me - Barbosa is their backup PG. I expect that. No one is takin away what Nash has done because he is a great floor general and a solid basketball player. Thats where it stops. He's not even a canidate for MVP in my mind. Ofcourse anyone who argues against Nash in this forum will be known as "Nash Haters" because out of nowhere the Suns fanbase on this forum has skyrocketed.

LOL it was around 40%, but he was also on the all defensive team as well.

The thing is you could argue the Amare actually had a break year and was the MVP, and Nash was apart of the supportsing cast. So if Amare has another 26 point 8 plus rebounding year will it be another Nash MVP if thier record ends up being the best in the L. Marion has been under rated for a long time these two players had they missed 8 games this year I am quite sure the record of the team would have been affected accordingly its basically this .... if the MVP is awarded to the best player playing on the best team then it should go to Amare Stoudamire.

Bigmark, youre saying he was the trendy vote at midseason, meaning that it was a bandwagon choice.....while even after the first month people were talking about how if he kept it up he should be considered an MVP candidate. Whats the matter? People cant emerge and become MVP candidates?

                              That's very telling.

Let me add current year stats as well:

                              LeBron James (didn't make playoffs)
                              27.2 PPG 7.4 RPG 7.2 APG 2.2 SPG

                              Allen Iverson (made playoffs)
                              30 PPG 4.0 RPG 7.9 APG 2.4 SPG

                              You be the judge.

Oh yeah, stats don't count. You need the best record in the league then, and only then, are you a legit candidate.
