Gotta say I don't understand what Pop see's in Finley to play him so many minutes.

And LOL @ Finley checking Durant, that's just putting him in a position to fail. It's too bad the team doesn't have an All-NBA defender sitting on the bench that they could use in these type of situations.

So ... What now? What moves do you hope for in the off-season?

Personally, I think we need Omri Casspi. I don't care how we get him, if we need to trade up or whatever, but he looks like a promising small forward and he's only 20 years old. And he's international and we know the success the Spurs have had in the past with later-round international prospects (Manu, Tony).

Also, I would let Finley's contract expire and possible try to shop Oberto, Udoka, and Thomas. Try to get some young, fresh legs. Also, I would try to resign Drew Gooden, but if he's asking for an unreasonable sum of money, then I'd let him go. He's not that good and he's not exactly a young'n.

I like our Hairston and/or Mahimi to break out next year into the full-time roster. That would be a big boost.

EDIT: Oh, and if Splitter would change his mind and take his talents to the NBA, that would be great, too!

LOL ... I just read a thread on SpursReport.com (I'm not a member, but I read the forums sometimes) and there was a thread saying that the Spurs should fire Pop. I guess in the microwave society that we live in, not winning a championship in two years is too long...

Luckily, we'll have a MLE again, but we won't really be able to keep Gooden with that, which is fine by me. I'm excited to see Mahinmi, and also Hairston and Marcus Williams... hopefully they can bring something to the table by complete surprise.

Other than that... we'll just have to wait it out until the next offseason (2010), because we'll have plenty of dough with only Duncan and Parker under contract (the two guys I only want to keep anyway, sorry Manu, I love you man, but the injury problems are not going to help us very much later on)...

sign Chris Bosh. Then as soon as Duncan finally calls it quits, we can use that extra bread to sign the Manu-like wingman...

btw... this is Tony's team now. Although Duncan looked superb in Game 5.

You know there's no way the Front Office gets rid of Manu. Whether he should be resigned or not, he surely will be. The Front Office is not known for bold moves and this isn't certainly something I'd think they'd do, plus it would piss off a bunch of Spurs fans.

I don't know, if Manu has another injury that sidelines him for some time next season then I could see the Spurs part ways with him.

About the 2010 plan, I think it's a big risk. Last time the Spurs had tons of cap space they struck out on all the big names and ended up with Radoslav as the key acquisition. Plus almost every team in the league will be competing for the same guys.

For next year I hope there's a youth infusion for the end of the bench guys and the starting SF. I wouldn't mind keeping a couple of vets like Finley but Pop has proven he can't resist the temptation of playing him 30+ mpg and that won't cut it as we've seen.

I've heard some talk about the Spurs possibly acquiring Chris Kaman from the Los Angeles Clippers via a trade. What do you all think about that?

rebounding is a must for us, so I would have no problems with it... but I DO think we need some stealers and blockers on this squad, to open up a more fast paced game. If we can get our threes in transition, it will lead to even more offensive boards. Problem is, we are never in transition. We don't create the opportunities.

I'd love to have Kaman on the team, but it would depend on what we had to give up for him.

Since the Clippers are in such a brutal state I think Kaman could be acquired without losing too much, as I doubt he's in their long-term plans.

Any idea what SA would trade?

I'd love to get Chris Kaman, although he'd kill our plans for the summer of 2010. But, what worries me most is if some of the young players can finally get a shot at playing time (Ian, Malik and Gist). Pop needs to realize that riding Timmy, Tony & Manu with older veterans can't work forever. Hill is a good start, but giving the other developing players P.T. is vital to extending our championship window.

Great win, tonight. And if this team is going to make any noise this postseason (championship or bust?) they need Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Tiago Splitter to play at this level (or close to it). I really think that Portland *** whooping was a wake up call to the players.
