Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
Went to the Portland game last night. It was the best they've looked so far. In the words of Walt "Clyde" Frazier, they played with "wit, grit and pep in their step", and actually showed something on defense. And who lit a fire under Larry Hughes' ***? Dude was strokin' it.
It was also Nate Robinson's fourth straight DNP, and I am SO glad. I'm tired of his me-first antics, and so is the coach. D'Antoni said Toney Douglas is more about getting others involved.Comment

Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
Duhon's play last night where he ran up on the scorer's table then dove back down on the floor to beat Aldridge to the loose ball was friggin inspiring. Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
There's no denying Nate's energy and athletic skills. But until he grows up and realizes this isn't AND1, he'll always be a novelty act. The fact that no team wanted him during the off-season should have been a wake-up call.Comment

^ Couldn't agree more, very well said. Hate to go all Alex_Brady and say this but Nate simply isn't a winner at this point in his career."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
Larry Brown, and even Isiah couldn't get through to him. D'Antoni finally had enough with that throwing the ball in the wrong basket nonsense. I heard his college basketball coach was happy to be rid of him. It's a shame, because Nate's an amazing athlete. If his head could match his skills, he'd be a fixture at MSG.Comment

Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
Well Nate's on the block now apparently.
As much as I like the little guy, I believe he's worn out his welcome. Toney Douglas was brought in to replace him anyway, and TD is a better defender and has better potential at the PG spot than Nate.
I wonder if anybody's interested in a ballhogging midget. He could definitely bring a spark off of a contender's bench that isn't deep in the guard spot. I know the Lakers thought about him last season as did the Magic, and with Nelson hurt who knows. But Nate isn't a pure PG.

Donnie Walsh is miffed at his staff over Brandon Jennings. He should be miffed at himself. The buck stops with him.

Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
Telling you, Ike should have been retained as the Head of Scouting or something to that effect. He finds talent. Sure, some guys aren't great, but how's Balkman over Williams looking now? (Don't mention Rando because no one was upset over that one at the time).
Anyway, happy to not see Nate on the floor. Too much stress with that guy.
Lee and Galinari are this team's future. I don't think the Knicks are bringing in LeBron or Wade so forget about it. But a guy like Joe Johnson would be a nice compliment for this team. They need a scoring 2 and a real point guard."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: NYK 10: The Crossover
There is no way in hell Lee is getting signed to a long term deal. They'd be better off going further down the rebuilding ladder than locking him up for several years. And as you said there is no way LBJ, Wade, etc are coming.
Galliarni is really young and every one else on this team is a dime-a-dozen NBA player. I wouldn't be opposed to them completely blowing things up and sucking for a few more years and building through the draft."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
