Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth

Stephen A. Smith (yes, I know, but the point stands...) has, I believe, made the first public outcry concerning D'Antoni's job security.

    The whispers will now begin.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

^^^.....and that's a good thing. D'Amdummy does not hold players accountable, and I'm sick of his excuses at press conferences.

"It's bad over there," one Celtic, who's tight with several of the Knicks, told me after the game. "Right or wrong, they're not feeling [D'Antoni]. They just ain't."

It's not really featured. In PHX it was, not here.

Applaud Stephen A. D'anphony needs to go. He's terrible.

When I saw him do that a few nights ago, I was convinced it was a play.

Stat and Melo havent cliqued yet. In the end the Knicks can be great offensively, but down the line they dont have the defensive tools to take the coaches philosophy and balance it out.

D'Antoni was hired to give the Knicks fans an entertaining offense. Cool, now if they want to really get to that next level I wouldnt invest in D'Antoni being that dude to shape a 50 win team into a real winner.

Do u wait and see if they acquire some more talent, become "better" yet falter defensively, or get a new coach asap along w/ some defensive player and take it from there?

Its a shame how many good coaches have been run out of New York. The over-demanding fans and microscopic media doent give ANY time for a team to find their identity. Your gonna be in the Playoffs this year and will most likely get beat regardless of whom u matchup against, yet the panic level is ridiculous.

I say show some patience, let this year be a wash, and see what happens after a full training camp.

How many good coaches have been "run" out of New York? And don't mistake Dolan's intentions for our intentions.

D'Antoni served his purpose. He made a terrible basketball team fun to watch, he helped court big names. He can go now.

Will STAT be as productive under another Coach and not the "focus"?
Is he mature enuff to let D'Antoni go and not let it affect his game?

I believe so. People didn't think he'd be as productive without Steve Nash yet he's having a great year. And nobody really knows if he'd be the "focus" or not. I'd imagine it'd be a 1A and 1B type situation like Wade and LeBron.

The roster is flawed. The coach is flawed.

                        Sad.

                              We definitely saw it.

But, I think we also hoped there would be some improvement (even if only a little) with Carmelo and Billups on the roster.

We hoped that D'Antoni would open up his playbook a bit more. Take advantage of what Carmelo brings to a team.

Maybe they just haven't had enough time, like you said. I agree with whoever said that D'Antoni has till December of next season.

We can pass this off as not enough time. I'll learn to accept that. I'll learn to accept that the beginning of next season could be a bit shaky as it will be for any team's chemistry. But, if by December, D'Antoni hasn't explored some awesome display of offensive schemes with the weapons he has on his team, he's got to go.

Is offense really the problem tho? We all know it isn't. The defensive schemes are trash. The coaches offensive gameplan is blah. The Knicks could be up by 20 with 8 mins to go and it still isn't secure cuz they are allowed to shoot up shots with 20 seconds still left on the shot clock.

How often do they run the pick and roll with Melo and Amare?
