If we can lock down Dwight for the same price as Stat and then be able to bring in CP3?

How can you NOT like that trade? I haven't looked into Arenas' contract but from what I recall it was a short one. If it lasts longer than next year it kills our PG chances but make no mistake about it - D12 brings defense and a presence in the paint. He's younger also.

Having seen Patrick for his entire career if we can get a REAL center it would be a nice compliment to Carmelo. Stat and Carmelo didn't exactly play off each other well from what I saw.

Funny - Dwight Howard Knicks is the number 1 search in google for D12.

Yeah that would be great to have D12, Melo and CP3. I guess i really became a fan of Stat this year and wouldn't want to see him leave.

Billups for Felton & Chandler would be fantastic. lol

For that trade to work, Denver would need to pick up Chandler's Option @ 3 million 1st. Then wait til the trade deadline to make that trade. NBA rules state a player needs to wait 1 year before he can be traded back to his original team

According to the NY Daily News, the Knicks front office is pushing D'Antoni to bring in a Defensive Assistant Coach. Possibly Lawrence Frank who's contract with Boston expires this summer.

Other Assistant coaching candidates include:
Memphis- Dave Joerger
Orlando- Steve Clifford
Portland- Bill Bayno
Chicago- Ron Adams

D'Antoni previously refused to hire Tom Thibodeau when he was head coach in Phoenix.

I'd make it an ultimatum to D'Antoni if I was the front office.

I do not want the virus that is gilbert arenas anywhere near the Knicks facility. He has three years left on a deal that made him the 4th highest player in the league.

First, that Post trade is comedy only Adam Sandler could write.

Second, Walsh is not an idiot. Sure he can have Howard but to also bring in Arenas or Hedo? Hahaha, the Knicks wouldn't be any better.

Third, why did I even waste my time discussing a trade the Daily News made up?

Lastly, D'Antoni will refuse a defensive assistant and it will spell his firing come Christmas.

All indications is that Dwight Howard does not want to be in NY.

I think Knicks fans should not even focus on getting him because we'll all be disappointed in the end.

I really think the Knicks front office isn't even considering him IMHO.

Yes, with the Chauncey signing, they are focusing on 2012.

But it's not for a big man. It's for one of the 2 PGs that Donnie has coveted.

Joe B had an excellent line about Corey Brewer. He sid the Knicks couldn't use him because he plays too much defense for D'Antoni.

Today's NY Post says Donnie Walsh is focusing his effots on signing Samuel Dalembert. They feel Marc Gasol and DeAndre Jordan will stay and/or be matched by their current teams.

They hope to sign Dalembert to a long-term MLE and use their 17th pick in the draft on a PG, possibly Boston College's Reggie Jackson or Georgia Tech's Iman Shumpert.

Signing Dalembert to a long term deal with their MLE would eliminate the Knicks from having max cap room in 2012 which Walsh says is fine because he didn't just want to sign one max player (ie., Chris Paul) and prefers to fill out the roster.

I can live with that. I think he sees the big picture. Get size and find a point guard that distributes.

I don't follow much NCAA so I don't know a lot about those two names for the 17th pick. Analysis?

I looked both prospects up on draftexpress.com and both seem to be shoot-first PGs.

I don't mind another PG if it's either:
-their PG of the future (after Billups is done) or
-a pass first, second and last PG

The Knicks need big bodies IMO. Even if they're not true Centers, guys who can defend and board.

I think most will agree he is more defender than offensive presence. He isn't the type to really want points or feel the need to be involved offensively.

I consider him one of those big men who doesn't seem to be valuable to a passive fan, but wants to do the dirty work and takes some pride in it. He is happier blocking a shot than scoring a lay up.
