Size is a MUST. A couple of 7-footers who can take care of business down low, a servicable point guard, and better bench players. We could use someone who can come off the bench and light it up consistently.

...and force Pringles to hire a real defensive coach, like Doc has with Lawrence Frank.

Forcing Pringles to hire a defensive coach is gonna be hard. He stubborn like that.

This is gonna be a loooooong summer. Especially with a lockout looming.

listening to Chris Maddox (sp?) from SI, he said that the Knicks actually are under the cap regardless of what happens to the CBA. I had no idea, that certainly can make the offseason interesting.

He also said it would be a PR disaster within the league if Walsh and D'Antoni are not brought back for next season.

Yes the Knicks are under the CAP no matter if they resign Chauncey or not. The biggest thing is will the CBA allow for a MLE (Mid Level Exception) or will there be a Hard CAP.

I think the Knicks should use the $14M to make a run at DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers. He's young, athletic, aglie and cheap. Sign him and Dalembert with that.

Turiaf has a player option so he'll be back and be another big body.

I wanna throw this out there- if the Knicks can get...Vince Carter..with a MLE..wouldn't you rather him at starting SG than Landry Fields.

You can pick up any PG at that point.

They won't have all 14 million. They have account for Cap Holds & the salary of their 1st rd pick for this year. The number I believe will be around 9 million for FA.

Also DeAndre Jordan is not worth that type of money. Also the New CBA from what's been said will really crack dowon on those outragous contracts.

What will help the Knicks is the MLE, becuase we could use that to maybe sign DeAndre, but no one knows if the New CBA will have a MLE..

If the MLE isn't available then we need to sign some vets on the cheap. Joel Pryzbilla, Nazr Mohammed & Jeff Foster come to mind.

I agree with your math on the $9M to spend. But Jordan, another big and use the MLE on Carter.

The rest can be throw-ins to fill out roster spots ala Miami.

Jordan and Dalembert - amen to that! But I'm not giving up on Fields. I think the change in the team screwed him up. Give him time. Let's see how he develops over the summer.

I've had Jordan on my fantasy team since Kaman went down. He would be the Camby-esque player we would need defensively.

Give me him and Andre Miller for next year and I'll be ecstatic.

Pass on Billups - his tendency towards injury puts us in a bad spot as proven this playoff series.

Taking the new CBA and work-stoppage threat out of the equation, one prominent NBA agent pegged Jordan's value on the open market to be around $9 million to $11 million dollars a season and predicted he'd sign a contract similar to the five-year, $60 million extension that Bulls center Joakim Noah signed in 2010 or even the four-year, $58 million extension Lakers center Andrew Bynum signed in 2009.

"I can assure you that keeping DJ as part of our core is a major priority and one we will address at the first opportunity," Clippers general manager Neil Olshey said. "Having two starting-caliber centers [Jordan and Kaman] is an incredible luxury and one that we don't take for granted."

Retaining Jordan takes on an extra level of importance because of his friendship with Griffin, who will be eligible for free agency after the 2013 season.

We'll if we resign Chauncey we will not have any CAP Space & will basically have to hope the new CBA allows for a MLE..



Without Chauncey we have about 51 million as he has that 3.7 mil buyout
