LONDON — Pablo Prigioni assured Knicks fans they have nothing to worry about at the point-guard position without Jeremy Lin.

Prigioni, starting point guard for Argentina’s medal-contending Olympic squad, said he is more of a pass-first point guard than Lin, and the club will be solid with a three-headed platoon of Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and himself.

“I think we have at that position everything, Prigioni said Saturday in an interview at a remote high school in East London. “Raymond can score more. Jason and [I] can run the team. I feel we have many options at that position. Fans will be happy and enjoy our game.’

“Jeremy is more a scorer. He likes to shoot more. I saw him play 10 games. I’m not this kind of player. I like the team to play good, pass the ball, find open shots. I like to play smart —if someone’s hot, pass the ball to him.’’

Prigioni, 35, confirmed the Knicks pursued him for four years. In the past, he elected to stay in the Spanish League, where he has been a stalwart since 1999-2000 and was once Jose Calderon’s backup.

“It’s more important to me the people from New York showed me they wanted me to go and play and really feel I can help the team — 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes,’’ Prigioni said. “Doesn’t matter. They’re very interested. Not only this year, but the last four years they followed me. In the past it wasn’t a good situation to go. This year was better. I finished my contract and they talked to me at the right time. They are pretty sure I can help the team.’’

Alot of handshake deals going on involving JR Smith.

We get him for relatively cheap this summer with an option presumably to give him a bigger long-term deal down the road.

We sign his little brother who wasn't even starting on the Summer League team.

JR's off golfing and kicking it with Dolan in Vegas.

Alot of loyalty to a guy who is a combustible mix being in NY and always on the wrong end of a bad headline.

I get the feeling they know how good he can be and they think that treating him well will keep him at his best behavior.

I wouldn't put it past Woodson to try this.

              That certainly sounds like it.

I always felt if JR got his head on right and fully realized what the team goals are...he could be a John Starks-lite.

The problem is he's a local product. And I don't know if that's the best case scenario for a guy like him. He has a lot to get into out here.

All the more reason why Melo needs to be more of a vocal leader and set these guys eyes on the prize. Not just scoring averages or being satisfied with just making the playoffs.

Yep. I definitely agree. And I'm sure management knows it too.

But maybe (hoping), just maybe, if they show him how much he means to them to handshake a longer extension and sign his brother and make him feel wanted, he'll look at whatever trouble he's about to get in and consider: "Man, those guys have been real good to me. Let me back track here and ask myself how they'd feel about this right now."

It won't be easy for a guy like him. He seems to be the type that doesn't really stop and think what his actions are doing, but I think we all need to be patient with him. He's gonna make mistakes. Hopefully, little-by-little he'll stop and think who he's hurting when he makes them.

Because if this guy can keep his head straight and stay out of trouble and accept his role (asking a lot...I know), he can be - or will be - one of their best players. It's possible he could be second on the team in scoring while coming off the bench.

No idea why we signed Chris Smith, he wasn't even an above average player in the Big East.

Mad respect for our boy Melo out there doing the damn thing yesterday!

On another note, looks like we're looking at K-Mart but he wants more than the minimum. Was reading on RGM and someone made the perfect comment about K-Mart after all the JR Smith handshake agreement stuff:

                    "Does he have any brothers?"

I'd like K-Mart but I can't fault him for getting his money elsewhere.

We need a backup PF that does everything Amare doesn't- defend and rebound.

Initially I was hoping Portland would release Jared Jeffries and we could pick him back up but that doesn't seem likely to happen.

I've heard a possibility of bringing back Shawne Williams but he gives us no interior presence.

It's not looking good if we can't land K-Mart. I don't think we can rely on Kurt Thomas to give us valuable minutes at his age.

I'm still watching Lin highlights and reminiscing. Knicks didn't win this game but Lin held his own against the leagues best PG.

this game 2nd under woodson vs Indiana

The kid has a bright future. IMO. I'm hoping this Felton move pays off tho. He brings better defense.

The Birdman is available. He could bring some much needed energy off the bench.

I would pick up Birdman for his defense and energy for sure. Probably comes cheap too.

Shameful that this is how a grown man needs to be treated.

Yeah, I stopped looking at it that way. 30 years on this Earth and I've been learned that there's a lot for people to feel shameful for in life. More grown men that act like children than those that don't. At least that's how it looks to me.
