And the JR and Shumpert deal was classic contract dump.

Prigioni while under contract for an additional year costs nothing so Phil had the leverage there.

I also think the Prigioni trade shows some that Phil is learning the Executive talk.

He openly admits the Chandler trade outside of netting two picks was a disaster. But he's gotten better with each move, in my opinion, including finding some nice young decent talent in guys nobody wanted during the season.

That JR and Shumpert trade shouldn't have even been possible.

Phil going on Twitter rants about how be the team looks/plays is bogus.

He tore it down. And he allowed Melo wait until Feb to have surgery. What does he expect?

This was a free year for Phil. Therefore, he needs to deliver in free agency and get a stud in the draft.

If he's upset, how does he thinks the fans feel?

I'd love to see all the fans just not show up for a game. Just total blackout.

Yesterday should turn into a Knicks holiday...
        • Our savior blasted the team on Twitter
        • The Shump-to-JR alley oop
        • Amare posterizing people and scoring 14 points in 11 minutes in his Dallas debut
        • Tyson Chandler out there stroking mid-range J's like he's MJ

Exactly. Phil should "smh" at himself for putting this D-League roster together.

I think Phil just wants effort. And even if the house is burnt down by his own hand, it doesn't mean guys should be out there not trying.

I didn't watch the game so I can't comment on the actual hustle play but if Phil thinks guys weren't trying, I'm inclined to believe him.

I don't think he expect wins.

If Phil wants effort then they should give effort because they are playing for roster spots next year.

Are they really though? I think that's one of the problems with this team. And it's the same thing we saw in 2009-10. All of these guys are on their last year and probably already know they aren't coming back. And then there's a massive talent gap between us and Cleveland at every position. Cleveland's bench is better at every position than our starters.

I think there's another reality we're going to have to face. We're going to have to rebuild the long, hard way. Fortunately we'll have a top 5 (hopefully top) pick in the draft this year and we'll get a piece of the future. Besides that, there's a lot going against us.
1.) Melo coming back at age 31 off of serious knee surgery. Same surgery Granger and Wade had.
2.) No first round pick next year.
3.) The Triangle. Foreign concept to most players in the NBA. And it's not like it's a system that has made any of our players flourish. Well, maybe Acy? or Jason Smith? But it wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have...
4.) Derek Fisher as head coach. Guys aren't going to knock down the doors to play for D-Fish. The triangle historically has been highly successful, but only with Phil Jackson as head coach. Has there been a coach that's successfully run the triangle in the league besides Phil? I don't think so. This bad combination may lead to...
5.) Overpaying free agents. I really hope Phil keeps his sense and realizes that we're probably not going to field a contending ball club next year. I don't want to see guys like Wes Matthews or Tobias Harris with max contracts. If Phil doesn't buckle under pressure he'd be wise to just grab a couple of mid-tier free agent role players and keep as much money free for next year's crop of FA's as possible. There are only a couple guys I'd offer a max to in this year's class but I don't think we'll get them anyway.

Maybe we can field a squad that could get into the playoffs as an 8th seen next year. But that might be as good as we can get without putting ourselves in a really bad cap situation again.

I didn't watch the game either but how hard can guys play when their is such a talent discrepancy across the board?

This is a D-League team. It's not the Sixers who have/had multiple Top 10 picks playing.

These are multiple 10-day contract guys and a rookie head coach.

Very weak for Phil to sit back and take shots like that when half of the season he's chilling in LA cashing those checks.

He either needs to wait for the tank to materialize or shut up.

But don't throw rocks when he put it together himself.

Indeed. I've defended Phil all year but he is way out of line and way out of touch with this move. We're in full-on tank mode, there is no leadership nor talent on this team and a majority of our roster doesn't even belong in the NBA.

Why on Earth do you feel the need to publicly embarrass them?

I'm not sure why Phil did it, but it was 32-13 with a minute to go in the 1st quarter. It was pretty awful.
I watched up to 4 mins left in the 2nd quarter. Turnovers, bad passes, Its a mess.

Its on Phil at this point. Is it a necessary evil? Shumpert & JR playing really well for the cavs. smh

Side rant - it's funny how everyone in the national media is saying this but it's simply not true. They aren't hurting the Cavs but neither is contributing all that much either.

JR is averaging like 12/3/3 since the trade and shooting 42% from the floor. He's providing little production given the amount of time he's on the floor. He's basically what Shumpert should be - making hustle plays and the extra pass here and there. Shumpert meanwhile is more or less doing nothing.
