Melo surgery and he'll be out 4-6 months.

    This burns me up.

He's not some 22 year old kid. He's already got miles on those knees. 30 years old with knee surgery and he'll be back just prior to training camp?

    SMH

We saw the team wasn't going anywhere early. We even drafted his position.

    Unreal.

Wouldn't we have to take on additional players and thus salary to make that happen?

I'm all for getting rid of Jose. But I can't stand RJ and I'm against adding future salary.

Will be interesting to see how fat Melo gets while rehabbing. I'm sure it'll be an ugly start to '14-'15.

And hell no to Reggie Jackson, even if he's dirt cheap.

Re: The 2015 New York Knicks: Year 1 of Life "After" Dolan

The one good thing is the Knicks can't even try to screw this up and trade for Dragic since their first round pick is off-limits (the 2016 is already traded away). I doubt Jackson would make that trade, but I can't even worry over it which is a relief.

The Dragic thing is clearly so he can get a 5-year-deal with max money. Why anyone would give him max money is beyond me but let the Lakers make that mistake.

The Knicks don't need to worry about point guard right now. Calderon isn't getting traded and he's fine for the triangle. A lot of people keep screaming that real point guards lead teams to championships but I don't even think that's the case anymore.

Arguably the best point guard in the game can't get out of the second round, and 5 of the last 6 champions have had mediocre point guards leading the way.

You don't need a point guard to win championships. You don't need any one position to do it. This focus on "we need this position filled" is, in my opinion, the wrong way to go about it.

So we flipped Prigs for two second rounders and Shved who is an expiring.

            Solid.

So we're now down to just Melo, Calderon, Early, THJr and Galloway on the books for next year - at about $33M.

Praise Phil. That team was one hell of a paper tiger.

Thank goodness Dragic went to Miami.

You know Phil had that itchy trigger finger.

So this part of the season is essentially an extended tryout for the team next year. This team will still show some fight.

He's an expiring so it hardly matters. We do need to field a full roster this year though.

These are our pick going forward:

                        2015: own 1st

                        2016: own 2nd if in top 37

2017: own 1st, 2nd via Rockets or Blazers (not sure which)

                        2018: own 1st, worse between our 2nd and Clipper's 2nd

                        2019: own 1st, 2nd via Cavs, 2nd via Rockets

Got it from a guy on Reddit.

That's crazy. That season wasn't even anything special, but I look back on it fondly like I do for championship seasons for other teams just because the last 15 years have been so awful. At least that year we had an identity and a team that was consistently fun to watch for a full year. It all fell apart in the playoffs, but I really wish we could have seen what happened with a healthy Chandler. Him getting outclassed by Hibbert was the biggest reason we lost that series imo, even more than JR's meltdown.

Good move getting some picks for Prigioni though. Now lets stop trading them away all the time.

It baffles me that we couldn't get a single pick while dealing Chandler, Shumpert and JR but friggen Prigs nets us a pick? Okay...

That's what I thought, should have double checked. Heard some dude on the radio this morning ripping Phil for not getting any draft picks but it didn't sound right.
