Re: The 2019 New York Knicks: Feel the Fiz

Last Nets teams I liked were the Petro/DC/Kenny Anderson days. Didn't like them after that and I still don't.

I'll root for the Clip joint, especially if Leonard goes there, but I liked watching them this year in the playoffs anyway. That dude Harrell was a beast dunkin all over GS.

I like this Toronto team a lot and pulled for them from the start of this playoffs (even liked them with Derozan, but got frustrated with them always losing to Lebron)

And I liked watching Denver a lot too and thought they would have done much better vs GS than Portland did.

Could you imagine if not giving up Knox was the reason we didn't get AD ?

It had to be Mitch. Not that we would have got him anyways.

For me it's pretty much **** every team who's not the Knicks, but **** Boston, Philly, Toronto, Indiana, the Nets, and Miami twice.

The Nets are just in an interesting spot. Makes me sick how much sense it would make for KD to go there now.

Seeing what LAL gave up for AD, we were never serious players even if the Pels did like a couple of our young pieces. We would have had to give up way, way too much. It'd have been worse than the Carmelo trade. Perry did the right thing here, not that he would have pulled it off anyway.

I made the mistake of listening to that airheaded troll Frank Isola on Dan Patrick's show this morning, saying Knicks fans would be thrilled with a future of KP & Barrett (meaning the Knicks made a mistake moving KP).

Taking a flyer on KD doesn't make much sense for us, missing the first year, maybe taking another to get back and you don't know what he's going to be anyway. It's depressing that 85% of KD is better than most of what we've had for years but can't even count on that.

You really just have to laugh. It's actually insane how everything fell apart, and it was a prayer to begin with. Back to the drawing board, at least this time we have our draft picks.

On the positive side, now that AD is out of the way new jersey season officially begins. RJ Thursday, Kakko Friday.

With me, I always expect the worst from the Knicks, so I'm never disappointed.

I'm so confused by this statement.

Are they saying that the Pelicans didn't value Knox or Robinson and instead preferred to discuss Ntilikina and Smith?

That seems unlikely to me but I can't for the life of me figure out what this tweet is trying to say by suggesting the Pelicans weren't high on Knox or Robinson.

If it's that they weren't high on them at all, why would anyone even need to bring up Ntilikina. No one in the league values Ntilikina more than Knox or Robinson.

I took it as they don't value any of our guys that highly which didn't surprise me, what did was that our front office thinks highly enough of Knox and Mitch to not even put them in the talks.

Begley says we're going to look at guys like Julius Randle and Dlo but won't commit to anything long outside of the major free agents.

Leaving this here, just a picture of RJ Barrett, nothing else:

Rich has to be loving this right now.

This is horrifying. I've been burying my head in the sand since I first heard the Randle rumor.

I don't think the price will be right so I'm not too worried. It'll be interesting to see what their revised plan is with the injury, have to spend the cap somewhere. We'd almost be better off knowing for certain no one is coming so we could start making moves for the draft, taking bad contracts. We better not get left out chasing dudes that were never going to sign.

I say still go after KD and try to get some established guys to play with him.

Look what happened this year, we did the tank thing and didn't even get Zion. The draft is a crap shoot anyway and if you just wanna go that route, be prepared for another 5+ years of watching terrible teams with no guarantees of ever getting good anyways.

This team has been bad for so long, they need to take risks at this point.

So Barrett it is. Hope he can develop into a really solid cornerstone piece.

I like our second round selection. I wrote this in November in the draft thread...

Brazdeikis on Michigan has that "I'll be taken 25th overall, go to a good situation, and do all the little things well" written all over him. Smart, tough, intense. well-rounded player. Will be a nice rotation piece for someone whenever he comes out.

I can’t remember the last time the fan base all agreed upon a pick like they have with Barrett.

                          Vork on RJ's shot:

"Hanlen provided*The Athletic*with a detailed list of how Barrett’s shot has changed since then. Barrett, Hanlen says, has moved his right hand on the side of the ball to get a smoother release and spread his shooting hand for tighter backspin. He’s also adjusted his stance and lowered his base for better fluidity and rhythm.

“During the Duke season, his hand and elbow placement caused inconsistencies, but both of those have been adjusted and I think he’ll become a really good shooter,” Hanlen said. “Like all rookies, he’ll have to adjust to the NBA game, but I think he’ll transition very well.” "

Scares me seeing the name Hanlen after the Fultz debacle but I'm excited to see what RJ can do. I never liked Kobe so idolizing the Mamba Mentality is worrying to me but hopefully they can work on shot selection.

If Iggy is Joe Ingles-lite with some hops, then I'm good.

Also like the Amir Hinton pickup. Dwyane Wade comps and he led D-II in scoring. A bucket is a bucket IMO.

Would've rather seen us go sign a big instead of VJ King. We have way too many wings. I'd even take Jontay Porter while he rehabs.

                                Sunday soon come...

KD not sure if he's taking meetings, might just do phone calls apparently. What's everybody thinking?

Do you think he picks us? Do you want him to?

I'm yes to the second one, unsure on the first. I think there's a legit case to be made that with the injury it doesn't make a lot of sense on either side but it could probably be argued either way. Staying makes sense, the Nets make sense... We make sense almost more in a "top Euro player tired of the bs ready to chill in the MLS" kinda way, but it's pretty much been that way since the beginning.
