i agree, this game is awesome online. sure there's areas that could be patched (i dont like the judging, all of them being the same), but play online is fire. you can bang inside (who says theres no infighting?), or you can control your opponent from the outside. once you learn the step-in punches, blocking, side step punches (from both sides), leaning, etc..the game becomes 100x better. this is a game that you just have to play awhile online to see it really shine. just like nba2k8 plays better online against a sim opponent

Re: Prizefighter is great!!!!
I think if I could find a game against a human that would use real boxers I'd like that too. Those created boxers that don't take any damage are ridiculous.
I went 15 2 minute rounds against a created boxer with Bonami last night. It was fun, I outboxed him and won a decision 148-143. However, despite digging to his body and landing some great combos, at the end of 15 rounds, he was still full of stamina and his life bar had not been touched. I must have landed over 200 power shots during that fight and about another 300 stiff jabs over that time frame. And he took absolutely no damage.
I on the other hand had lost nearly half my health bar despite only being hit with mainly jabs and quite a few less that I landed on him.Comment

I played the demo and thought the game was a piece of ****. I'd rather wait for the next fight night.Comment

Re: Prizefighter is great!!!!
game is a piece of ****.
played it over and over and you can pummel the cpu and he barely loses any energy he can be fatigued and he still beats you down with fast and furious punches. And I can be fully energized hitting him with vicious head and body hits and he still knocks me down.
the game is straight up garbage unresponsive at times and out of whack. Love the graphics and sounds, but thats it.
again we knew it would suck when D.K. put his name on it.Comment

Re: Prizefighter is great!!!!
Thhis game is different to say the least. but the footwork is where this game kills it. and I hate the fact i have to use special punches to hit someone hard. Its far from smooth. Fight night is arcade crap but its at least smooth and allows you to stick and move."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

You know me and you are cool but you didn't give the game a chance man and/or you came at it with the wrong mentality. All the things you hate about the game is what makes it great. If you press a button the corresponding punch comes out. If you press a button 20 times in less than a second you wont get 20 punches in less than a second. The game is tight man
I'd rather watch two obese women wrestle in jello, and then eat it off each other before playing this game anymore. At least those hungry brawds are more Entertaining.
P.S. with a Midget referee with a pudding pop.Last edited by Behindshadows; 07-09-2008, 04:10 PM.Comment

Re: Prizefighter is great!!!!
I didn't play long enough to master the controls, but reading some of the comments it seems similar to another recent 2K sports title, Top Spin 3, in that they are both sims that try to emulate how the sport is actually played. Both have steep learning curves where early frustration is common, but TP3 is a much more polished game (that series is also in its 3rd installement). If the learning curve is similar to TP, then the game definitely offers something different than FN with regards to simulation and strategy. I hope 2K can build on the series and not completely abandon it. As for me, between TS, NCAA, and COD, I don't know when I'll find time to give it another try (maybe when patch is released?), but as a big boxing fan, I know the itch will come sooner or later (or maybe FN4 will be out by then).

Re: Prizefighter is great!!!!
Hmmm...I wanted this game to rock, but I can't get into it. It moves SLOWLY, glacial almost, and the punches seem to lack a variety somehow. I'm normally a huge 2K homer, but I think this is a huge strikeout. I was hoping that, true to 2K form, they would come out with something where I could utilize real boxing strategy and the fights would unfold appropriately. I tried to move around the outside of teh ring and jab-jab-jab, followed up by working my way inside off the jab and going to the body repeatedly, but the game moves too slow and the controls are too wonky for that to work. I also tried to stand center-ring, stick-and-move, then circle back to the center to give my guy a lot of outs, but that also didn't work for the same reasons. Instead, it seems like the strategy is to go for haymakers and out-brawl your opponents. Counter-punching, it seems, is non-existant.
Granted I haven't spent a massive amount of time with the game, but it just is doing nothing for me right now. I feel like the boxers are fighting in molasses, and getting flush shots to the body or head are damn-near impossible. Not that it matters, since (as someone else noted) you can knock a guy out with a never-ending succession of straight rights to the arms. I can't jock 2K on this product; I feel they're spreading their games among too many development houses, and their standards are suffering. I'll give the game another shot, but I just can't get excited about it right now...Comment
