Re: Floyd Mayweather Pretty much telling you why he's not in Fight Night
Floyd Mayweather is one of the most talented boxers to ever hit the ring, and defensively he is the best one still standing in his division. His strength is counter-punching, and also letting an opponent tire themselves out while not taking much damage if any from the fighter's strikes.
Pacquiao is a fighter who is very much on the attack, he'd be most likely to go in and try to force Mayweather to trade, which will make it very much a fight on the run for Mayweather. If it goes to a decision (which it might), it will look like Manny has thrown and landed more, like a few of the rounds that De La Hoya won against Floyd. The fight will play into Floyd's hands the longer it goes on, because Floyd will set up his defense in a way that encourages Pacquiao to strike more, but hit less. In a sense, he'll try to frustrate Pacquiao into throwing more punches than he'd like.
I'd like to think that Manny can get more than his share of punches in, but I'm not sure against a guy like Floyd. I'm going to have a conditional pick here: if Manny can land shots against Floyd, he will win. If Floyd gets his typical counter-punch while avoiding the big shots defense going (which he is the best in the world at doing), then he's going to win.Our purchasing power is being eroded. So especially now, the goods must be held to a standard. We end up happier as consumers, and the companies get a clear message: "We won't tolerate sub-par goods." It's a shame, no one cares to speak with their wallet.Comment

He brings up a great point, no losses is hard to argue with. Judge his body of work, not his mouth.
Its hard to argue with an undefeated fighter at his level. Until Floyd is embarrassed in the ring, not just lose, its hard to argue with him.Last edited by Complex; 05-20-2009, 06:09 AM.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather Pretty much telling you why he's not in Fight Night
If he were to fight Manny at 140, he'd get destroyed.
Hatton at 147 gave PBF problems. What do you think a 140 Manny would do at that weight? His hands, stamina and power would be too much for PBF.
Yes, Flyod Jr. is undefeated but he was losing that fight with DLH until Golden Boy ran out of gas in the last 3 rounds.
And I don't care what anyone says, he lost that first fight to Jose Luis Castillo. Anyone who watched that fight knows it.
What bothers me about Floyd is that he IS incredibly talented but once he got to the top and started making crazy money he's taken the easier path.
He forces smaller opponents to come to him. And in his comeback fight he doesn't wait 24 hours to see the winner of the Hatton-Pacquio fight, instead choosing the 135 pound champ in Marquez.
If he wants to fight at 147, why not challenge Mosley? Or Cotto? Or Williams?
But everyone in boxing knows that he SHOULD have picked Manny. That's the ONLY fight that fans and boxing wants to see. Instead he again picks a smaller guy to rough up.
I love Marquez and he'll come to fight, but coming up 12 pounds to fight a natural welterweight is a tall order that even he might have problems with.
Go screw PBF.Last edited by Money99; 05-20-2009, 07:48 AM.Comment

If we do see this fight it will be on Floyd's terms and Floyd's weight of choice. He'll have every advantage going into the fight and unfortunately beat Pac.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
