....i dunno man, there's a lot of stink this game has that simply can't be covered up
i do hear a lot of good stuff about that UFC fighting game though so imma give that a try
but considering how long it's been since FN3 was out to FN4
incredibly dissapointed have I been with this gameComment

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
Most of us have said that FN4 is better than FN3, but there are areas that are lacking just like in FN3. No game is perfect right???
Has anyone noticed how it makes you fight close or sucks you in to the inside for close fighting? Just like FN3 had a barrier. Is it any better to have suction to make you fight up close? I say again I think FN4 is a better game but thats all just better. With most of everyones opinion about FN3 just better shouldnt be good enough.
Rawdeal I never asked for a new engine. I never even said anything about going back to FN3 engine. Im not the "you people" your talking about. This is all about opinion. IMO FN3 looks better than FN4. Its not even about that, its about gameplay and I think FN4 has better gameplay overall.Comment

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
last post and im gone ..........for a month.
u know what, the "perfect block" in this game is just as cheap as the parry , it freezes u and gurantees a huge blow to ur health,
this game just doesnt feeel done like its 80-85% percent complete
and jb sports,
when i said every body is the same i said they dont really have there on charterictics, like roy jones in round 3 felt like jones.....
pernell whitaker is a dissapointment i cant do any of the incredble head movement he did
Now ea did NAIL the WAY a boxer fights but not exactly the STYLE a boxer fights
and i know i know its a video game but they really really regressed in styles and some of them are just plain out of wack
arturo gatti and jones jr with the philly shell?????
heres and example
Floyd mayweather jr and Pernell Whitaker are both grat excellent tactical and defensive fighters
both at times used the philly shell
both tottaly different STYLES
observe
now for u kiddies who didnt see this man box pay attention he was once p4p the greatest in the world and nothing short of amazing
fast foward to the 2:50 mark to see the greatest display of headmovemnt pretty much ever
<EMBED height=344 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=425 src=http://www.youtube.com/v/yjTHLPmfBCQ&hl=en&fs=1& allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></EMBED>
here is mayweather fast foward to the 2:30 mark
this guy must of threw 30 punches both a combo of body and head shots and didnt land not one
<EMBED height=344 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=425 src=http://www.youtube.com/v/5dPy_C5tXgc&hl=en&fs=1& allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></EMBED>
also notice how mayweather keeps his punches tight and clost to his body
there very short and quick punches however he is not much of a combination puncher
two incredible defensive fighters, two tottaly different styles,
while maywether likes to absorb a punch and counter whitaker rather not be hit at all and counter or just to make u look silly
this is what i mean by every body fights the same
the only diffenence stylistly between the fighters are they faces they all punch the same, all haymaker the same, all everything the same
take nba 2k thre is a differnce bettwen lebron james and kobe bryant they are noth great scores both they shoot very diffently, attack the basket different
ea got the tendiecies right but they dropped the ball miserably on style
anyways enjoy the game u all
see u online with the xbox:wherezmym0neyComment

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
yes you can KD or KO opponents without the counter but we're talking about the ratio. In the game now, to stun an opponent 8 times out of 10 you either need a haymaker, a sig punch or a counterpunch. the 2 of 10 to stun or KD a cpu opponent is either thru a regular hook/uppercut and very rarely a regular cross unless it's late in the match and the cpu energy bar is depleted. that ratio is way too high. Regular punches on the button SHOULD KD or KO opponent at a higher rate, more so the crosses for the lanky fighters.
Lower a bit the counter-punch power.
Raise a bit all regular punch power , especially the crosses.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
that way you can stun, KD, KO the cpu at a realistic rate for BOTH the counter/haymaker/sig and the regular on the button punches.
I've stunned a lot of boxers in the FIRST round, great boxers at that such as ALI, using the counter or the haymaker punch or the sig punch.
but please, show me the next time you stun an opponent using Lennox Lewis against Ed chambers ( a scrub HW) using a REGULAR cross punch that's not a counter, not a haymker or not a sig. punch in the FIRST round. It WON'T happen. I play on champion with boxer power at 7/10 and toughness at 5/10.
That's the problem.
test it out, and get back to me on that.
btw: I think fnr4 is a big step from 3, but it could achieve offline perfection if the punching mechanics are shored up..and stamina.

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
Are you blind? What kind of TV are you playing on? I have both and FN3 looks horrible compared to 4 on my 52' HDTV. Maybe you need your TV calibrated.
The only thing FN3 has over FN4 is presentation. I don't like the entrances, and do not like the fact that they don't announce the location where the fighter is from. Other than that FN4 is way better the 3 in every aspect.Michigan Wolverines
NY JETS
NY Mets
NY Knicks :(

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
How can the OP post this thread
I dont play online but offline its by far my favorite game of the year tons of replay value and I cant wait for DLC.
Oh and whoever said all boxers fight the same is sadly mistaken not only for legends but especially in legacy.
I just think some of you so called hardcore sim players need to relax and enjoy the game for all its does well .
Do you guys even enjoy playing ? or just bitching and picking apart each little thing .
No appreciation whats so ever this was a big leap from 03 and yes like all games it could use a few things tweaked .
Its a video game if you want REAL go to a gym and learn to box for REAL . :wink:Last edited by dorismary; 06-29-2009, 06:29 AM.Comment

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
it's just not as fun as FN3, everyone talks about the little details, how graphics are better in FN3, more tactile response, button punches, more customization, better legacy mode, etc etc
like I said it just feels like FN4 is a step backwards

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
there are only 2 things I miss about FNr3
your boxer getting fat and old near the end of his career and being able to start off with a fatty and trim him down to fighting condition
the carnival knockdown bouts where the round ends after a knockdown
oh, and the warehouse, I loved that placeNBA 2K11 Community Site Mix

Re: EA going backwards? FN4 is a step back from FN3
as a player who owns both, FNR4 is a better game, but it has TRAGIC flaws. The lack of consecutive punch fatigue is an online game killer. I can honestly say that FNR3 didn't have any game killers and that I felt like I had SOME control against cheesers.fool me once... shame on me.

also, about the graphics debate... I think FNR3 had better player models, but FNR4 has smoother and more vibrant graphicsfool me once... shame on me.
