    Right Stick Punching is horrid

**** this game. You have to be exact when rotating the stick, otherwise you throw random *** punches like a jab when you're trying to throw a hook.

Why did they remove button punches? It was so much more responsive, because then I could actually put together nice combos without a useless jab in there when I'm trying to lay my opponent out with a hook.

And the mini games? Dont even get me ****ing started on that. When it says push the analog stick down and to the left in the punch combo drill, and you push down and to the left and they count it as wrong, oh my god.

Two issues absolutely KILL this game for me. I will be trading it in for UFC tomorrow. Their controls are beautiful. I debated on which game to get for over 2 weeks. I made the wrong choice with Fight Night

No problems here with the controls. Though I've used the right stick for a long time now and have gotten pretty used to it. I've always thought the right stick was as precise as the user makes it. If you really focus and practice you'll be able to play a pretty much error free game of boxing. And by the same token the fact that you can actually make errors is what makes fighting with the right stick that much more challenging/rewarding. Anybody with a thumb can be halfway decent using buttons, while the right stick requires a little more skill. Though once you get used to it, it's really not much different than using buttons.

I haven't started a Legacy yet, so I can't comment on the mini games. But anyways, I'm sure you'll like UFC, it's a pretty good game too.

Sorry you are not enjoying the game. You just need practice with the right stick. It is, without question, one of the best and most innovative gameplay features ever put into a video game. The only game I'd say that is on par with the controls of FN is EA's NHL, which uses very similar controls.

As far as the mini-games, these were very frustrating to me at first but now I can score a championship level on almost every one, every time.

The mini games are frustrating until you figure this out: You have to be very exageratted when throwing punches... meaning this -

Left jab is up and to the left - make it more up then left.

Right cross is up and to the right - make it more up than right.

Right hook is to the right and around, upwards - make slightly up and to the side befor going up and around. Same with the left hook.

Body uppercut is down and to the right / left - make it more down than right / left (this places the needed emphasis on exactly which punch you are throwing so that you get exactly what you are looking for.)

Its a little less exact that it should be - but with the above adjustments, I pull off champion almost everytime on the heavy bag and no longer throw the wrong shots by accident.

        Just trying to help...

Yes, everything must be over exaggerated. Especially with the heavy bag combos. At first I was complaining and felt like the game was not recognizing my "correct" punches. Now that I am better at the heavy bag combo I realize the computer was not "cheating" me.

I see a lot of people complaining about the training games and I agree, they could be better. But I enjoy them alright. I think they help you. Getting your thumbs used to the movements helps out during a fight.

Exactly thats my problem. When I'm in the heat of battle I dont have a steady enough thumb to make all those precise movements.

I just want to be able to press a button and throw a damn punch. X jab, Y cross, B/A Hooks and an uppercut modifier. For all those who enjoy the stick, I'm sure it is much more rewarding, but when you're not very good like me, I at least want a freaking OPTION of being able to switch to buttons so I am better and more comfortable with the game.

This issue absolutely kills the game for me, which is a shame because it is a very good game - I just dont know if I can enjoy it

Yep. I've gotten 1000X better at the training. Especially the heavy bag combo. Most of the times on that training I might miss one. I used to miss 4-5.

Thats key. I can fight decent when I'm a 80's rated fighter on Fight Now, but when I'm only going up 2-3 per category and losing 1 on another, my stats suck and I'm constantly going up against guys better than me.

I didn't think I was going to like the sticks but, just like NBA 2K shot stick, NHL shot stick, Tiger shot stick, Madden field goals I could on.

Once you start playing with the stick you get used to it. It's more responsive than you think. Grad another controller and practice. You'll get it and when you do it's so rewarding.

                            adapt and overcome.

People just want to rush things, you have so much more time then you think you do.

Ever hear of the expression, "Be quick, but dont hurry"?

Same applies to this game. Smooth, steady movements.

I feel your pain....This along with times when Im killing my opponent (cpu) and then they knock me out with one random punch.........Just couldn't handle it anymore. Traded it in this weekend. There are so many people who think the analog is more realistic and so on and so on....EA has you guys brainwashed.....lol. It's okay because I just realized that they had me the same way until now. I always buy NCAA College Football, NBA live, NCAA College Basketball, Fight Night,....you get it by now though......every single year religiously.....Not anymore. They slack on just about every game they put out, but they won't fix the problems because people are still purchasing the games. Friends kept telling me NBA 2k was 10 times better than Live. I didn't listen. Got Live 08 and didn't like it so I bought NBA 2k9 late......Loved it. Next year, did the same thing cause I was brainwashed. Ended up getting NBA 2K9 late....loved it even more. Although NCAA College Basketball was better than Live, it was essentially the same game. Why did I buy the same game that I already knew I didn't like?......(Caught up in the EA brainwashing along with the fact that I like the college atmosphere)......Fight Night gets better in some areas and then worse than the previous version in other areas. The only thing I'm somewhat content about is NCAA College Football. So for now on, EA gets only one purchase from me a year unless they mess that up. NBA 2k is the other purchase. I kind of got off subject but had to let that out........Back to the topic though.....The analog stick is neither better nor more realistic.
