EA's response to headbutting online (Brizzo)

We deserve some heat for not having any producers or testers with the foresight to see just how cheap and nasty some people will be when playing online.

Without sound overtly inflammatory, are these guys COMPLETE idiots?

Have they never played online before? J**** H. F***ING C***** on a dipstick. Anybody who's played online ANYTHING for more than 5 minutes knows just how cheap and nasty MOST people will be when playing online.

Remember, he has to acknowledge their mistake without crossing the corp. line he has to toe. At least he acknowledged their mistake. Most won't do that, especially when they are the only game in town.

I fully understand he has to toe the company line. But there's ways to take ownership of the issue without issuing a statement like THAT.

I hear you. I think that a lot of the guys are like others on this board: they like to fight sim. It never entered into my mind to headbutt once, much less two or more times when fighting online. I have never initiated the headbutt on purpose, but when I have been butted more than once I save one for a stun moment to help me KO them.

he has to toe the corp. line that he and his dev. team laid down.

they were the geniuses who decided to dedicate a button for illegal blows

the decision to put manual illegal blows in the game, a "sim" game is just one of the terrible decisions they have made regarding this series.

Honestly, their formula has been very successful with the other sports franchises. Put as much arcade-like superhuman crap in as possible - the 14-year old Pop Rock-eaters love scoring 17 TD's a game with Randy Moss or Mike Vick. They've always MARKETED "sim" but they've never BEEN "sim" and FNR4 really isn't any different in that respect.

The biggest difference between this and Madden is that it hasn't SOLD. Which IMO is good news, because maybe they'll finally stop this crap and produce an actual sim experience.

Apparently not. Round 3 sold over 2 million copies, but as of July 11th FN3 hasn't busted the 600,000 level.

Yeah I read a story the other day that characterized EA Sports' tone on FNR4 as "extremely disappointed".

Kind of concerns me that we might not get another one in two years.

Down to only just over 83,000 in sales in week 3 of release...OUCH. I really don't see things turning around. It topped out at 335,000+ in the first week and his been severely downhill since.

With those numbers Parker you might be spot on with your concerns about seeing another version in two years. But a positive note, FNR4 has sold more in three weeks (579,585*) than FNR3 did in 25 (574,017*).

do you guys think their poor sales have to do with not including a button configuration? Personally I do. You just don't alienate your gamers like that without expecting repercussions..

the headbutting is bad, but I got owned in one fight where the guy just threw haymakers back to back then blocked and then threw them again, it wasn't even that I boxed bad as I was up on the score card, but got knocked out in the 3rd. It would be cool if the actual haymakers too more stamina, where as the counters would take less.

I think the poor sales are largely due to the decline in the interest of the sport.

I think it's more of a referendum on the popularity if boxing itself more than anything else. However, I'm guessing the lack of button punching probably contributed in some small way.
